Cucumber Lime Basil Prosecco Spritzer Recipe

Can you believe I’ve had this blog for almost 6 years without sharing a single alcoholic recipe? It was definitely time to change that, starting with this cool and refreshing Cucumber Lime Basil Prosecco Spritzer.

As you all know, I’m continuing my collaboration with Dinogo this year, and for this month’s post, I wanted to create a drink that captured the essence of our amazing cruise. While brainstorming the ingredients for this drink, I focused on my favorite summery items. Lime is an absolute summer staple, cucumber has recently become a must-have in my cocktails, and basil, my favorite warm-weather herb, seemed like a perfect fit. So, why not include all three? 😉

When it comes to the base of my drink, there’s no contest: my all-time favorite alcoholic beverage is Prosecco. Crisp, refreshing, and bubbly, it’s the perfect choice for warm days. As I mentioned in my earlier post on “How to Eat Healthy on a Cruise,” I find fruity blended cocktails often leave me feeling unwell after just a few sips due to their excessive sweetness. Prosecco, however? Absolutely worth it. I enjoyed a glass nearly every evening on our cruise before dinner!

Initially, Matt was doubtful about how well Prosecco would complement lime juice, but I urged him to trust my instincts. I was confident that the bright, tangy flavor of lime would blend beautifully with the refreshing bubbles. Turns out, I was right! 🙂

This recipe is super simple to make and requires no special tools! Step 1: grab a bottle of Prosecco. Step 2: create a cucumber basil-infused lime juice to mix in. Step 3: combine and enjoy!

To prepare the cucumber basil-infused lime juice for mixing with Prosecco, start by squeezing fresh lime juice into a glass. Next, add a few slices of cucumber along with some basil leaves. Give it a gentle stir, then place the mixture in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld and chill.

When it’s time for happy hour, take the lime, cucumber, and basil mixture from the fridge and strain it to separate the infused lime juice from the basil leaves and cucumber slices. Pour equal portions into your champagne flutes. The full recipe below yields about 4 servings, with each glass containing approximately 1/2 an ounce (about half a shot glass) of the infused lime juice. I also added some fresh cucumber slices for extra flavor.

You can add another basil leaf if you’d like, or feel free to skip it!

Next, pour in the Prosecco!

Finish it off with an optional lime slice for garnish, and enjoy!

My official taste-testers (aka Matt and my mom) gave this a resounding two thumbs up! The flavor profile is incredibly refreshing and distinct – you’ll first notice the cucumber, followed by a subtle basil note, and it all wraps up with the zesty lime and bubbly Prosecco. We hope you enjoy it just as much, whether you’re overlooking the ocean or enjoying it elsewhere. Cheers!
