This year, Dinogo readers have refined the selection to showcase hotels that embody the rich variety of the Windy City. The establishments listed below reflect Chicago’s elegance, heritage, and vibrant urban style.
Voting Process Overview
Annually, for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their insights on global travel experiences — including their favorites among hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and beyond. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated in the survey, casting more than 700,000 votes across 8,700 properties (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges based on their location and amenities, and were rated specifically on the criteria outlined below:
- Accommodations/amenities
- Proximity
- Staff performance
- Culinary offerings
- Overall value
For each feature, participants could select a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The overall scores represent the averages of these ratings.
What Captivated Readers
Readers revisited some of last year's beloved choices, such as the Park Hyatt Chicago (No. 5) and the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (No. 4), both of which maintained their spots. Also retaining its position from last year is the Pendry Chicago (No. 8), a historic gem within the 1929-era Carbide and Carbon Building. “Where historic charm meets refined sophistication,” remarked one reader. Making its inaugural appearance on this year's list is Hotel Zachary, Chicago, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (No. 7), a boutique establishment located right across from Wrigley Field, perfect for baseball enthusiasts seeking luxurious accommodations near the action. One reader showered it with high praise, calling it their “favorite hotel in Chicago.”

The Champion
The Langham, Chicago

The Langham, which opened its doors in 2013, is a 316-room hotel housed in the last office building designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Staying true to the original architecture from 1971, The Langham features mid-century design elements throughout its public areas and guest rooms. Noteworthy amenities include the Chuan Spa, specializing in Chinese medicine; Travelle and Pavilion dining options; and an indoor pool. “Every aspect of this hotel was remarkable,” praised a recent guest. “I wish every hotel could reach this standard.” Another T+L reader admired the “fantastic mid-century modern decor,” noting that it extended to the guest rooms as well. They remarked on how the hotel was “beautifully reimagined.”
