In this beautiful region, any choice is a good choice. While these islands share swaying palm trees and idyllic beach scenes, each possesses its unique charm — and no one understands this better than the readers of Dinogo.
Voting Process Explained
Each year, for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their travel experiences from around the world — giving their insights on the finest hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated in the survey, casting more than 700,000 votes across over 8,700 establishments (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Islands were evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Natural wonders/beaches
- Activities/sights
- Dining/cuisine
- Hospitality/friendliness
- Overall value
For each attribute, participants could rate it as excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The overall scores are calculated as averages of these ratings.
Highlights from Readers
Even on a single island, each reader found joy in different aspects of their experience — although some common themes did arise. Nature consistently captivated respondents, whether it was the soft sands of Grand Anse Beach in Grenada or the stunning, jagged pitons of St. Lucia.
In Anguilla (No. 3), readers frequently praised the stunning beaches and the friendly, welcoming locals. “The beaches in Anguilla boast some of the clearest, most beautiful waters I've ever encountered,” shared one visitor. “It's secluded, but truly a paradise for relaxation and reading.” Many readers echoed this sentiment, describing the island as “a paradise,” with one enthusiastically stating, “white beaches, crystal-clear water — once you visit Anguilla, you never want to leave! One word: incredible.”
In the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. John (No. 5) shone brightly for its stunning natural landscapes and dedication to environmental conservation. “With much of the island designated as USVI National Park, we can be confident that the essence of this place will remain unchanged for generations,” remarked a recent visitor. Another described it as “our favorite destination on earth,” adding, “We enjoy visiting because of all the National Parks. We love snorkeling, the tranquility of this island, and the warmth of the locals. The fact that so much of the island is a park is a bonus.” Yet another traveler expressed what every St. John lover felt: “It was tough to bid farewell to this island.”
This year, three familiar destinations made a comeback after previously dropping off the list — Cuba (No. 2), Bermuda (No. 19), and St. Croix (No. 25). This might suggest that T+L readers have developed a renewed interest in exploring history, whether it’s the colonial legacies and architecture that define Bermuda and St. Croix or the impactful events of the Cuban Revolution that continue to resonate on the island today.
