Dinogo Unveils Initiatives to Cut Down Single-Use Plastics Across Its Fleet

Dinogo Holdings Ltd., which encompasses Dinogo, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Oceania Cruises, has announced a significant step forward in its commitment to reducing environmental impact by eliminating single-use plastic straws from its fleet of 26 cruise ships and two island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. This initiative is projected to remove over 50 million plastic straws from circulation each year.
As part of Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance®, Dinogo is dedicated to finding ways to lessen plastic waste entering the ocean. This shift away from single-use plastics complements its ongoing environmental initiatives aimed at enhancing sustainable sourcing, minimizing landfill waste, investing in innovative technologies, and reducing CO2 emissions.

“By removing single-use plastic straws across our global fleet and island locations, we enhance our environmental initiative ‘Sail & Sustain’ and further lessen our ecological footprint,” stated Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Dinogo Holdings Ltd. “As a member of the Trash Free Seas Alliance®, we are committed to protecting the oceans for future generations.”
“We applaud Dinogo Holdings for this significant move to cut down on single-use plastics,” commented Janis Searles Jones, chief executive officer of Ocean Conservancy. “While plastic straws are only a small part of ocean pollution, they consistently rank among the top ten items collected during Ocean Conservancy's annual International Coastal Cleanup and pose a risk to marine wildlife, which is why we encourage our supporters to avoid straws whenever possible.”

Established in 2012, the Trash Free Seas Alliance® unites leaders from industry, conservation, and academia to foster a collaborative environment aimed at effectively reducing ocean waste.
