Discover the Latest Culinary Additions at Walt Disney World
The D23 Expo, Disney’s major fan event, unveiled exciting new food experiences for Walt Disney World. Guests can soon cook like Remy, dine like royalty, eat like an astronaut, and enjoy drinks at a new Star Wars themed bar.
When to Experience Ratatouille, and More French Delights
Epcot, known for its year-round culinary festivals like Food & Wine and Flower & Garden, will soon feature its first ride dedicated to French cuisine with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Opening next summer, this attraction will shrink riders to the size of a tiny chef, whisking them through a walk-in fridge, under a stove, and past giant food items for a truly immersive experience.
While the new Epcot ride won’t conclude in a whimsical Mytoury with oversized Champagne cork seating and jam jar lid tables, a fresh dining option will still launch at the France pavilion alongside the Pixar attraction.
La Crêperie de Paris will feature both table-service and quick-service options in the France pavilion. This means guests can enjoy a full-service dining experience or grab a quick bite. Opening in summer 2020, the menu will be crafted by Jérôme Bocuse, son of the renowned chef Paul Bocuse. Paul Bocuse’s restaurant Monsieur Paul, which Jérôme currently oversees, remains one of Epcot’s top fine dining spots (try the famous red snapper in potato scales).
Details Unveiled for Epcot’s Space-Themed Restaurant
New details about Epcot’s upcoming “space restaurant,” announced two years ago, have been released. Positioned on the Future World side of Epcot, soon to be divided into newly themed “neighborhoods,” Space 220 will offer diners a simulated journey to outer space. Guests will take an “elevator” near the Mission: SPACE ride, mimicking a trip into orbit for a meal or drink. Managed by Patina Restaurant Group, which also runs Morimoto Asia, the Edison, and Via Napoli, Space 220 is sure to be a unique dining experience. Just be sure to visit it before riding Mission: SPACE, as it’s the only Disney ride equipped with on-vehicle barf bags.
Epcot is also preparing a new addition: the World Celebration area. This forthcoming space will transform the fountain-lined corridor between Spaceship Earth and World Showcase into a three-story venue for food festivals and events.
New Orleans-Inspired Dining Featuring The Princess and the Frog
Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge, scheduled to open near the Magic Kingdom resort area in 2022, will introduce a new waterfront dining spot inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. Although initial renderings resemble a typical contemporary American Mytoury rather than a fully immersive Disney experience, this could signal Disney’s second attempt at an upscale hotel character meal. Last year, Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was revamped to offer a high-end Snow White dinner. While it’s unclear if Tiana will make an appearance or if beignets will be on the menu, this could be a step towards elevating character meals beyond the usual Mickey waffles and strawberry soup.
Star Wars Hotel Dining Experience
For those craving a Star Wars dining adventure beyond the standard fare at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser offers a unique option. Revealed at the recent D23 Expo, this experience promises to feel more like an extended cruise vacation than a conventional hotel stay, featuring immersive dining and the Silver C Lounge to satisfy all your cantina cravings.
