Disney's largest cruise ship is set to accommodate 9,000 guests on voyages throughout Asia
Would you journey across the globe to experience sailing on Disney Cruise Line's grandest ship yet?
On Wednesday, Disney Cruise Line unveiled fresh details about the Disney Adventure, which will be the line's largest ship upon its launch in Singapore in 2025. Weighing in at 208,000 tons, Disney Adventure will surpass the current largest ship, Disney Wish, by approximately 44%.
Disney Adventure will also feature a unique design compared to the Disney ships you know and cherish. Originally commissioned for Asia-based Dream Cruises, which went out of business in early 2022, Disney acquired the ship from liquidators and plans to introduce it in 2025.
Consequently, the line will need to adapt to a preexisting ship layout, presenting a new challenge for Disney. Historically, the company has maintained control over the design and construction of its resorts, whether on land or at sea, from concept to completion. The 208,000-ton vessel was initially intended for a staggering 9,000 passengers, along with thousands of crew members. However, Disney intends to modify it to accommodate 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew members. Nonetheless, it could still mean over 9,000 people aboard when the ship reaches full capacity.
Passengers aboard the Disney Adventure will be sharing the ship with many more people than on previous Disney vessels. The five ships in Disney's fleet vary from 83,969 tons to 144,000 tons, each accommodating a maximum of around 4,000 guests. (Disney's smallest and oldest ship, Disney Magic, can host up to 2,500 guests.) For comparison, the current largest ship in the world, Royal Caribbean's 250,800-ton Icon of the Seas, can carry 7,600 passengers.
Despite variations in size and design, the Disney Adventure will continue to envelop guests in the brand's trademark style of vibrant, enchanting spaces.
DISNEY CRUISE LINEThe ship will include new themed zones that highlight Disney's core values of storytelling — imagination, discovery, fantasy, and adventure.
An open-air entertainment venue will boast a lush garden and features reminiscent of a magical valley. Named Disney Imagination Garden, this space will draw inspiration from the adventures of beloved Disney characters like Mowgli and Moana.
Shopping and dining options in the ship's Disney Discovery Reef area will showcase beloved aquatic and nautical characters from films like "The Little Mermaid," "Finding Nemo," and "Lilo & Stitch."
San Fransokyo Street, a vibrant family entertainment district and market, will feature interactive games and activities, alongside shops and cinemas inspired by the world of "Big Hero 6."
The ship's pool area, Wayfinder Bay, will offer an open-air poolside escape with breathtaking sea views set against a backdrop of Pacific Islands-themed decor.
Town Square will serve as the central hub for lounges, cafes, restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. Here, guests can dive into the enchanting realm of Disney princesses, including Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel.
Marvel Landing will introduce exciting immersive attractions celebrating Marvel superheroes. Guests can also experience aquatic adventures in Toy Story Place, a playful interactive area featuring water play zones and themed dining options.
Guests can look forward to Disney-quality service, delightful dining experiences, and exceptional entertainment—true trademarks of the brand.
Disney also revealed that the ship's exterior will showcase the fleet's signature Mickey Mouse-inspired colors, highlighted by the line's distinctive red funnels.
North Americans will need to travel a considerable distance to board the Disney Adventure. The new ship will embark on three- and four-night cruises from Singapore's Marina Bay Cruise Centre for at least the next five years, in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board. Specific itinerary details have yet to be disclosed, but these short cruises from Singapore are expected to attract an international audience, particularly many from Asia.
Upon entering service, Disney Adventure will become the seventh ship in the Disney fleet. Currently, the line operates five ships, with a sixth, Disney Treasure, set to debut in December.
