Get ready for Disney Cruise Line's exciting new announcement: 'Snow' days on the AquaMouse
Prepare for a nostalgic snow day when you set sail on Disney Cruise Line's latest ship, Disney Wish, in 2022.
The AquaMouse is an unprecedented water ride that blends "The Wonderful World of Mickey" animated shorts with lighting, special effects, and classic water ride elements, marking Disney's first-ever "attraction at sea."
We recently learned that when this thrilling ride launches on the Disney Wish, it will feature two entirely unique animated storylines, including the newly announced Swiss Meltdown, which will bring a snowy Alpine adventure to the ocean.
The immersive tale of Swiss Meltdown takes guests on a thrilling journey with Mickey and Minnie on a sledding adventure filled with wild moguls and bumps. As you embark in your two-person raft, the sun shines and the "snow" begins to melt (keep it a secret from Olaf!). You'll then race on a wild water ride toward the mountaintop, dodging obstacles like exploding avalanches, leaky rock walls, and rushing waterfalls — not to mention the Abominable Snowman.
The attraction draws inspiration from the Emmy Award-winning "Mickey Mouse" short, "Yodelberg," with composer Christopher Willis reworking his iconic score from the episode for this experience.
Tip: While riding, be sure to look out for Chip and Dale hitchhiking their way from the snowy mountain to Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. Spotting the chipmunks may be trickier than you think, especially with water blasters, misters, and pop jets soaking you along the ride!
(Image courtesy of Disney Cruise Line)This winter-themed adventure will alternate with the previously announced Scuba Scramble. Both rides showcase animated scenes with Mickey and Minnie, lighting effects, a dark tunnel, an original soundtrack, and over 60 water effects for a thrilling two-minute ride spanning 760 feet of tubing above the upper decks.
In both AquaMouse versions, the animated segments are styled like the latest Mickey shorts and those seen at Hollywood Studio's Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. The cartoon scenes play out over the 75 seconds you ascend through the tunnel, displayed on multiple 85-inch screens, all while you get soaked in a raft designed for two.
As the ride reaches its peak, guests will burst from the tunnel and dive into a thrilling water adventure around the upper decks. This experience will feature a series of speed blasters, culminating in a spectacular loop that soars over the edge of the ship.
This attraction is open to guests who are 42 inches tall and above.
