Guinness has recognized the Heavenly Jin restaurant in Shanghai as the world's highest dining venue within a building.

It's official: a new title for the 'world's highest restaurant in a building' has been awarded.
In February, the Guinness World Records team bestowed this honor upon the Heavenly Jin restaurant located inside the J Hotel Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China.
Situated on the 120th floor of the Shanghai Tower, the Heavenly Jin restaurant is positioned 556.36 meters (1,825 feet) above the ground. The J Hotel occupies the upper floors of the Shanghai Tower, which at 632 meters (about 2,000 feet) is China's tallest building and the third tallest in the world.

As the world’s highest restaurant in a building, Heavenly Jin offers breathtaking views of the Shanghai skyline. Its menu features innovative twists on traditional dishes, blending European, Japanese, and Chinese culinary influences.
In addition, the restaurant serves high tea, giving a unique twist to this classic afternoon tradition.
The restaurant’s décor is equally impressive, with a 30-meter-long mural crafted from Italian mosaic tiles, depicting a scene from the ancient Silk Road. Crystal light waves flow above the tables, which are set to accommodate 256 guests, including five private dining rooms.
An open kitchen lets diners watch the culinary process, though the stunning view through the floor-to-ceiling windows may easily steal their attention.
Dubai loses its title as the highest restaurant.

Heavenly Jin takes the title of the 'world's highest restaurant' from Dubai's At.mosphere. Located 441.3 meters up, it occupies the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, which opened in 2011.
China is also home to the world’s 'highest revolving restaurant in a building,' according to Guinness. Named Twist, it is perched at 422.8 meters on the 106th floor of Guangzhou's Canton Tower.
Why does Guinness specify 'in a building'? Because nature offers even higher heights. The highest restaurant in the world is Chacaltaya, located at Bolivia’s Chacaltaya ski resort, which sits at an altitude of 5,340 meters, according to Guinness.

The J Hotel Shanghai Tower, which opened in mid-2021, claims to be the world's highest hotel in a building. Owned by Jin Jiang International, one of China's largest state-owned hospitality groups, it features 165 rooms, including 34 suites, and offers 24/7 personal butler service.
However, Guinness has not recognized J Hotel's claim to being the 'world’s highest hotel' because it only considers buildings that are exclusively hotels. The J Hotel occupies only the upper floors of the Shanghai Tower, not the entire building.
So, where can you find the world’s tallest hotel?
The Gevora Hotel, standing at 356 meters (1,168 feet), earned the title of the world’s tallest hotel from Guinness World Records in 2018. Located in Dubai, this striking golden building boasts 528 rooms, spans 75 floors, and opened in 2018.
