How to Arrange Grocery Deliveries at Disney World

A family vacation to Disney World is never going to be entirely inexpensive. However, depending on your budget, there are many straightforward ways to save a considerable amount of money. One effective strategy is to have groceries delivered to your resort or hotel. Nowadays, it's easy to have groceries, diapers, and more waiting for you upon arrival—or to have them delivered shortly after you check in.

Considering that a quick-service meal for a family of four at Disney can quickly add up to $40 to $50 in the parks, and even a bottle of water or soda costs around $4, it’s clear how ordering snacks and drinks can lead to substantial savings over a multi-day trip. (If you enjoy a beer or a glass of wine after a long day at the parks, you can include that in your grocery order, too.)

Certain Disney Resorts, like the Fort Wilderness cabins (shown below) or larger vacation club rentals, come equipped with full kitchens. Even with just a small fridge, you can save a lot by stocking up on supplies for PB&J sandwiches, granola bars, and drinks. Disney permits you to bring snacks and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks, allowing you to easily pack a meal in your backpack.

The bell desks at Disney World resorts typically accept grocery deliveries for you (and keep them chilled), even if you haven’t checked in yet that day. If the bell desk brings your order to your room, there may be a flat-rate fee of $6 (though this fee isn’t always applied). Alternatively, you can pick it up from the bell desk at no cost.

Pro Tip: To estimate a delivery cost to Disney World, you’ll need the ZIP code, which is 32830.

Garden Grocer

While the original Disney World grocery delivery service remains popular among guests, it's not the only option available in 2019. Garden Grocer has been delivering groceries for a decade, and it works best if you place one large order well ahead of your visit. To avoid surcharges, you must order at least two days in advance; otherwise, you'll face a $20 fee for next-day orders or a $30 fee for same-day deliveries (if ordered before 10 a.m.).

For orders over $200, the delivery fee is waived; otherwise, expect a $14 charge. Ordering at least 60 days in advance grants you a 10% discount on your total order.

Deliveries to Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Villas, and Disney's Yacht Club Resort can only occur between 4–9 p.m. With a solid reputation built over ten years, Garden Grocer is familiar with Disney Resorts. However, the website can be somewhat awkward, costs can increase without a large pre-planned order, and it isn’t ideal for urgent requests or changing grocery needs.

Instacart

In contrast to Garden Grocer, Instacart offers near-instant grocery delivery, and you might already have an account ready to use while in Orlando. With Instacart, you can shop from several grocery stores in a single order, including Publix, Costco, Aldi, Sprouts, ABC Fine Wines, and more. Delivery can be as quick as one hour for a fee of $5.99, while two-hour deliveries start at $3.99.

Instacart Express members enjoy free delivery and avoid the 5% service fee. The membership costs $99 per year or $9.99 monthly; however, if you're only planning to use Instacart once during your Disney trip, it may not be worth the extra effort.

Instacart's user-friendly website often features coupons and buy-one-get-one-free offers. You can have deliveries made to all Walt Disney World Resort hotels, as well as other locations like hotels in Disney Springs, Swan and Dolphin, vacation rentals, or anywhere you're staying.

We successfully used Instacart for grocery delivery to our cabin at Fort Wilderness. Initially, we were concerned about the alcohol delivery to the bell desk without our presence, but as long as your ID is on file, it should be fine—luckily, it worked out for us in the end.

Amazon Prime Now

For many of us, having an Amazon account makes this option incredibly convenient. With Amazon Prime Now, you can get your deliveries almost instantly. A wide selection of food and beverages is available from Whole Foods, including beer and wine (though you might need to present your ID for that delivery). You can explore the grocery items on Prime Now by entering a specific ZIP code and start filling your cart ahead of time. Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, simply hit "purchase" and choose your preferred delivery time.

For orders of $35 or more, delivery is free if you choose a two-hour window. One-hour delivery windows generally cost around $5. Plus, you can even use Amazon gift cards for payment if you prefer. Based on our experience, Amazon often has same-day delivery options available, so you typically don’t need to book your order far in advance to secure your desired time slot.

Moreover, if you're a regular Amazon shopper, you might receive free Amazon Prime Now credits as a reward for opting for slower delivery on items that aren't urgent. This can help you save some money.

During our trials with Amazon Prime Now, we encountered exceptional customer service. One order was missing from our room, despite Amazon confirming the delivery to the resort. Disney World was having difficulty locating our groceries. We contacted Amazon Prime Now's customer service, and an agent quickly assisted us, apologized for the inconvenience, credited our $40 grocery bill, and expedited a replacement order. Ultimately, the initial order was delivered correctly, and Disney located it shortly after and brought it to us.

Walmart

Walmart is just that—Walmart. Although it's relatively new to grocery delivery in Orlando, it might be one of the more budget-friendly options. However, reports indicate that customers at Disney often face issues with Walmart, particularly regarding the necessity for guests to be present to receive orders and Disney rejecting orders packed in plastic bags, which apparently violates a policy. Additionally, it's suggested that you should place your order at least a day in advance, as delivery slots can fill up quickly.

Orlando Grocery Express

For those interested in a local option, Orlando Grocery Express has been operating since 2012. Its pricing and policies are somewhat akin to those of Garden Grocer, but it offers delivery to a broader range of locations, including various vacation rental homes in the area.

There is a $14 delivery fee for groceries, but orders of $200 or more qualify for free delivery. Additionally, those renting strollers from Kingdom Strollers can receive a free delivery coupon.

To ensure timely delivery, orders should be placed well in advance—at least 48 hours beforehand, and some dates may fill up even a month in advance. Once you are within 72 hours of the scheduled delivery, changes, edits, or cancellations are not allowed, making this service ideal for those who plan ahead.

Dizzy Dolphin Delivery

Dizzy Dolphin Delivery has recently caught our attention as a new player in Disney grocery delivery. Founded by Disney Vacation Club members, it has received positive feedback from dedicated Disney fans on popular forums. The service charges a $14 delivery fee, which is waived for orders exceeding $250. Additionally, there is a $10 surcharge for alcohol, as these requests are fulfilled by a third party.

Dizzy Dolphin's ordering process differs significantly from that of Amazon Prime Now. Unlike Amazon, there are no item lists with pictures, so you'll need to have your shopping list ready. The advantage of this approach is that you can request specific brands or types of items. Dizzy Dolphin also allows you to indicate whether you’re open to substitutes if your preferred brand is unavailable.

If you're in search of specialty items, Dizzy Dolphin might be ideal for you. They advertise the ability to pick up from Panera Bread and can find gluten-free, vegan, kosher items, as well as specialty cakes, gift baskets, and even donuts from a well-known local shop. While some reviews on Disney message boards mention that their prices can be higher than those of other services, feedback about the service itself is largely positive. Dizzy Dolphin promises to provide a final quote before delivery, and all orders must be prepaid at least seven days prior to delivery.
