Hurtigruten Offers Discounts on Cruises to Greenland, West Africa, the Galápagos, and More
If you enjoy planning ahead, this summer, Hurtigruten Expeditions, the environmentally conscious Norwegian cruise line, is offering reduced prices on select voyages from now until 2025 to destinations worldwide.
While Hurtigruten is known for its polar cruises to locations such as Svalbard, Antarctica, and Iceland, it also provides voyages to warmer and tropical areas like the Galápagos, the Caribbean, and West Africa.
Established in 1893 to connect communities along Norway's coastline, Hurtigruten has evolved into the world’s largest expedition cruise company and is a leader in promoting sustainability in the cruise industry. (The company operates two hybrid electric-powered vessels, the MS Roald Amundsen and the MS Fridtjof Nansen.) Due to these initiatives, Dinogo recognized its CEO, Daniel Skjeldam, in its 2021 Travel Vanguard list of travel innovators.
Until August 31, 2023, you can enjoy savings of up to 25% during the Make Waves & Save sale on nearly 100 sailings across Europe, North America, South America, and Africa. Hurtigruten employs a dynamic pricing strategy, meaning discounts increase as the number of available spots decreases. As a ship fills up, prices will rise. Although the sale continues until August 31, the best deals are available now.
Here are some of the cruises in this sale that we’re particularly excited about:
Disko Bay, the Heart of Greenland: This 16-day voyage begins and ends in Reykjavík, Iceland, while exploring the west coast of Greenland along the way. A highlight of the journey is Disko Bay, featuring a visit to the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where guests can witness the historic Inuit settlement of Sermermiut, massive icebergs, and hopefully spot some whales and seals. This cruise is aboard the MS Fridtjof Nansen, a hybrid electric-powered vessel with a capacity for 530 passengers that was launched in 2020.
Galápagos Islands Expedition Cruise—In Darwin’s Footsteps: This nine-day cruise retraces many of the stops made by Charles Darwin during his famous 1835 journey to the Galápagos. Travelers will have the chance to meet the giant tortoises on San Cristóbal Island, embark on a nature walk on Sante Fe Island to observe Barrington land iguanas, and look for blue-footed boobies and marine iguanas on Española, the southernmost island in the archipelago. The itinerary also includes two nights in Quito and flights from the Ecuadorian mainland to the Galápagos. This adventure takes place on the MS Santa Cruz II, a 90-passenger ship refurbished in 2021 specifically for exploring the Ecuadorian island chain.
West Africa Archipelago Cruise: This 14-day journey departs from Dakar and Banjul, traversing to Cape Verde and the Bissagos Islands, offering a chance to explore the stunning volcanic landscapes of two West African archipelagos. Bird enthusiasts can look forward to spotting hundreds of bird species, while wildlife lovers may catch glimpses of saltwater hippos and manatees. This cruise is operated on the MS Spitsbergen, a 220-passenger ship that underwent refurbishment in 2016.
