Hyatt Prive: The lesser-known program that can provide you with upgrades, complimentary breakfast, and additional perks

This article is periodically updated with the most current information.
While nothing can compare to the lavish benefits of Hyatt's Globalist status, many travelers find it challenging to achieve the 60 qualifying nights, 100,000 base points, or 20 qualifying meetings or events required for Globalist qualification.
Fortunately, there are numerous ways to enhance your hotel experience, even without elite status. Popular options among the TPG team for securing extra perks include booking through the American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts program or Chase's Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection. However, these programs are limited to holders of specific premium credit cards and offer fantastic benefits like early check-in, late checkout, on-property credits, complimentary room upgrades, free breakfast, and more.
Hyatt Prive is a hidden gem that provides similar advantages but is accessible to everyone. When booking through Hyatt Prive, you can enjoy daily breakfast for two, complimentary room upgrades (note that upgrades from a base room to a suite are not included), early check-in, hotel credits, and more. However, reservations for Prive stays require an eligible travel agent's International Air Transport Association number linked to your World of Hyatt account, and opting for a Hyatt Prive rate may come at a premium.

Which hotels are part of Hyatt Prive?

Similar to Amex FHR and Chase LHRC, Hyatt offers a lesser-known program named Hyatt Prive, which can provide substantial benefits at its luxury hotels. This program includes all Park Hyatt, Andaz, and Miraval properties, along with select hotels from the Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, and Alila brands. In total, there are over 200 properties globally that are part of this program. You can find the complete list here.
Benefits of Hyatt Prive

While generally consistent, the perks of booking through Hyatt Prive can vary slightly by brand. All Hyatt Prive stays include the following benefits:
- Daily full breakfast for two in the hotel's dining area.
- A guaranteed one-category room upgrade (either room-to-room or suite-to-suite) confirmed within 24 hours of booking, subject to availability.
- A property credit ranging from $25 to $100 per room per stay (depending on the hotel).
- Early check-in (as early as 9 a.m.) and late checkout, based on availability.
- A welcome amenity and a personalized letter.
- Connecting rooms confirmed within 24 hours of booking, subject to availability.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi.
Stays at Park Hyatt come with even greater benefits. At these locations, you’ll enjoy late checkout (as late as 4 p.m., subject to availability), and the hotel credit is typically $100 per room per stay. Some Hyatt properties also provide complimentary airport transfers when you book the Prive rate.
At Park Hyatt, Andaz, and Miraval locations, you can typically enjoy all these benefits regardless of how long you stay. In contrast, participating properties from Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, Alila, JDV by Hyatt, Thomson Hotels, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt require a minimum stay of two nights.
It's important to note that these benefits are in addition to any advantages you might receive from your elite status. For example, members of World of Hyatt Globalist may enjoy further upgrades upon arrival and access to club lounges. You will also continue to earn bonus points and elite qualifying credits as usual.
How to secure a Hyatt Prive stay
Anyone can take advantage of Hyatt Prive benefits for their bookings. This is especially attractive if you don’t hold elite status, a specific credit card, or membership in exclusive programs like Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts. However, the caveat is that you cannot book directly through Hyatt’s website without a travel agent's IATA number.
To arrange a Hyatt Prive stay, you must work with an eligible travel agent. While most registered travel advisors previously qualified to book Hyatt Prive stays, Hyatt reduced the number of travel agents in the Prive program in early 2021. Now, only those agents who meet specific quotas are eligible.
If you haven't chosen a preferred agent yet, members of the TPG team have had great experiences with Kristen Nix and Spencer Howard. Additionally, Live Luxe Travel Co. has received positive reviews online for handling Prive reservations.
The Hyatt Prive rate should match the best available "standard rate." Unfortunately, booking with points or special rates—such as a World of Hyatt member discount, AAA rate, or prepaid rates—will not qualify for Hyatt Prive benefits. There are often promotions for a third or fourth night free when booking at the Hyatt Prive rate, which can make it more cost-effective than the standard rate.

Hyatt Prive benefits are available at nearly all Park Hyatt, Andaz, and Miraval hotels, as well as select Alila, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency, JDV by Hyatt, Thompson, and Unbound Collection properties. Many of these hotels do not participate in other luxury hotel programs like Amex FHR, Chase LHRC, or Virtuoso.
Generally, travel advisers do not charge service fees for Hyatt Prive bookings, as Hyatt compensates them with a commission for your reservation.
Maximizing your Hyatt Prive bookings

Hyatt Prive stays are billed directly by the hotel. Therefore, the best way to optimize these bookings is by using the World of Hyatt Credit Card. Similar to other Hyatt bookings, you’ll earn 4 points for every dollar spent at participating properties, in addition to the usual World of Hyatt rewards.
If you’re thinking about adding the World of Hyatt Credit Card to your collection, it currently offers new applicants the chance to earn five free nights at any Category 1 - 4 Hyatt hotel or resort after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.
While booking through a travel agent may be less convenient for some travelers, you’ll still accumulate bonus points and elite qualifying credit during your stays. Make sure to provide your World of Hyatt number when making Hyatt Prive reservations.
Final thoughts
The Hyatt Prive program offers a variety of elite-like perks at Hyatt's premium hotels. Even if you already hold World of Hyatt status, utilizing this program can be beneficial, as it provides additional advantages such as property credits and guaranteed upgrades.
While Hyatt Prive rates may not always be the lowest—unless you score a third- or fourth-night free promotion—the benefits associated with them can sometimes justify spending a bit more for your stay.
Although Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties are not part of Hyatt Prive, keep in mind that World of Hyatt members can still enjoy added benefits during their stays at these locations.
