Ideal Times for Cruising

As a former Accredited Cruise Counselor with CLIA, I frequently faced this question: when is the prime season for cruising? My response remains unchanged - whenever you have vacation time, a fantastic cruise awaits you regardless of the season!
However, if you have a specific cruise destination in mind, certain times of the year offer the best opportunities for an enjoyable cruise experience overall. This typically means better weather conditions and calm seas.
If saving money is your priority, consider cruising during the shoulder seasons (either at the start or end of a season). Just keep in mind that the weather and water conditions may not be at their best.
Let’s explore the best season to cruise based on North American weather patterns.
Cruising in Spring
In addition to immersing yourself in vibrant cultures, a spring cruise to the Mexican Riviera offers the chance to witness majestic humpback whales during their migration. Imagine listening to their communications! It’s an incredible educational moment for cruising families, even if your kids aren’t fully aware of it.
April and May are prime months to embark on a tropical Bahamas & Florida cruise getaway, allowing you to beat the summer rush. Enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding at Great Stirrup Cay, and relax with cocktails adorned with cute little umbrellas under the shade of swaying palms. Sounds blissful, doesn’t it?
