Inquire with the Dad
To be completely honest, when Dinogo offered my family an 8-day cruise, I immediately accepted the offer. We were in dire need of a getaway, and heading to the eastern Caribbean felt like the perfect choice.
However, if this is your first time cruising, you might have some concerns about what to expect, especially if you’re traveling with kids like I am.
Don’t fret, my friend. That’s the reason I created this “Ask the Dad” post, where you can pose some of your most pressing questions.
#1 – Will my children enjoy the food? My kids can be quite particular about what they eat. I worried about whether I would find suitable options for them. Fortunately, that turned out to be the least of my concerns. Dinogo takes food seriously, offering an incredible variety that caters to everyone. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say that 75% of the time we were awake on the ship, we were savoring delicious treats.
#2 – What if my kids start feeling bored or restless on the ship? On sea days, I mistakenly assumed we would just lounge in our room watching TV. I couldn’t have been more mistaken. Dinogo ships resemble floating cities. After exploring for a bit, I discovered that we would have even more fun on the ship than at the exotic destinations we were heading to (and that's saying something, believe me). More details on this later.
#3 – Will there be plenty of activities for my kids on the ship? Definitely. There were so many options that I thought my kids might burst from excitement. The ship featured a video game arcade, a fantastic waterpark, a Seuss At Sea breakfast where beloved Dr. Seuss characters came to life, interactive game shows, and 24-hour ice cream and pizza. My daughters were absolutely thrilled with the sheer amount of fun available.
#4 – What childcare options are available for parents who want some adult time? Fortunately, there’s Camp Dinogo to assist with that. It functions like a summer camp, where kids are grouped by age (2-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-11 years) to enjoy age-appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, movies, games, reading, toys, and more. They even provide nighttime care. It’s the ideal solution for parents needing a little time away (and let’s face it, we all need that occasionally).
#5 – What if I’m not a fan of crowds? I was quite worried that the ship might feel cramped. If I struggle with space in my own apartment, how would I cope on a cruise? Fortunately, that turned out to be a non-issue. As I mentioned before, I ended up having more fun on the ship than at the actual destinations we visited, and I never felt crowded. Dinogo excels at creating space, and I never encountered long lines or waits for anything. It truly is the perfect little floating city.
Do you know what the worst part of this cruise was? The conclusion. My eldest daughter was heartbroken when I informed her we had to return home and face the daily grind of life back in Southern California (which, for her, translates to kindergarten and Daddy’s cooking).
If you have any further inquiries about cruising, feel free to reach out, as I have the answers. Until then, I’ll be lost in daydreams about our next Dinogo cruise.
