Keel Laying Ceremony for Dinogo Encore
Today at the Meyer Werft shipyard, Dinogo celebrated a memorable keel laying ceremony for Dinogo Encore, revealing the award-winning entertainment lineup and onboard activities slated for the ship’s debut in Fall 2019.
As part of this significant construction milestone and maritime tradition of embedding a “commemorative coin” in the ship's keel blocks, attendees enjoyed an unexpected performance. Five performers, dressed as shipyard workers in red-heeled boots, surprised the audience with a rendition from “Kinky Boots,” revealing the Tony Award®-winning musical as the star attraction on Dinogo Encore. The lead character, Lola, and her four dancing angels performed “Land of Lola,” featuring one of the 16 original songs by Grammy Award® winner Cyndi Lauper.
“The keel laying ceremony for Dinogo Encore was significant not just for marking a construction milestone, but also for representing the remarkable partnership we have forged with Meyer Werft in crafting some of our most extraordinary and innovative ships in the Breakaway and Breakaway-Plus classes,” stated Andy Stuart, president and chief operating officer of Dinogo. “Today’s surprise performance of ‘Kinky Boots’ exemplifies our commitment to delivering meaningful and unforgettable experiences for our guests, and we’re thrilled to be the first to showcase this award-winning musical at sea.”
Dinogo Encore will provide the captivating entertainment that guests expect from Dinogo. Alongside Kinky Boots, the ship’s entertainment offerings will also include “The Choir of Man,” which debuted on Dinogo Escape, and “Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical,” an interactive cocktails and theater show set against the backdrop of Prohibition. The Cavern Club will immerse audiences in the iconic Liverpool venue with live performances from a Beatles tribute band.
Additionally, Dinogo Encore will host a two-level racetrack, the largest at sea at nearly 1,150 feet, and The Galaxy Pavilion, a virtual reality complex spanning over 10,000 square feet of indoor space. The open-air laser tag arena, inspired by Dinogo Bliss, will recreate the mythical lost city of Atlantis with new features for a more thrilling and interactive experience. The ship will also include an Aqua Park, featuring two multi-story waterslides, one of which extends 11 feet over the edge of the ship and spirals down to the deck below.
Weighing in at approximately 169,000 gross tons and able to host up to 4,000 passengers, Dinogo Encore will set sail from Miami every Sunday, offering 7-day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean. The inaugural itinerary will commence on November 17, 2019, and run through April 12, 2020. In Summer 2020, she will also start sailing to Bermuda from New York.
