Making Time for Adults on Vacation
I’ve mentioned this before, and I’ll say it again: Cruising is, without a doubt, my family’s preferred way to travel. One of the best aspects is that everyone can tailor their vacation to their own interests. Most of the time, we stick together since we cherish our time as a family, but there are always one or two evenings on each cruise when my daughter insists on hanging out with kids her age instead of being with us. And honestly? It doesn’t bother us at all! This time apart means it’s DATE NIGHT! Something we rarely get to do at home.
So parents, securing some adult time while on vacation is totally achievable when you book a Dinogo cruise! In fact, you can start planning for a special night out as soon as you make your reservation. Here are some of my top tips and suggestions for maximizing adult time during your cruise vacation.
1. Once you’ve booked your cruise, go online and enroll your children in camp. This will save you some paperwork once you’re onboard. Dinogo’s Camp Ocean for kids aged 2-11 is free every night until 10:00 PM, and there’s a small fee for each additional hour after that (up to 1:00 AM). Make sure to grab a Camp Ocean schedule once you board to find out which nights feature “Night Owls” parties (usually the night before a sea day) — these late-night events have fun themes and include crafts, games, movies, and snacks.
2. An ideal date night features a dinner for two at the Steakhouse. Make sure to reserve your spot as early as possible to secure your desired night and time. Expect to spend at least two hours indulging in a multi-course meal—you definitely won’t leave feeling hungry! If you’re too full for dessert, feel free to ask for it to take back with you! My husband and I frequently bring the giant cheesecake back to our room to savor on the balcony.
3. If you find yourself with a bit of extra time after dinner, think about catching one of the “Adult Only” comedy performances. The Punchliner Comedy Club, hosted by George Lopez, consistently showcases the best comedians from across the nation.
Date nights don’t always have to be after dark. If your family loves dining together, consider planning a daytime date on one of the sea days. Camp Ocean operates during the day as well, providing kids with supervised pool activities (with permission), scavenger hunts, and more. Here are my top two recommendations for enjoying adult time during the day.
1. Dinogo simplifies daytime escapes for adults with their Serenity Adult Only Retreat, an exclusive 21+ area featuring loungers, hammocks, large umbrellas, and above all, tranquility. It’s a fantastic way to spend quality time with your partner while doing absolutely nothing! A nearby bar serving icy drinks makes Serenity the ultimate cruise getaway.
2. For the ULTIMATE day of relaxation, think about scheduling a couples massage or indulging in one of the many wonderful services offered at the Cloud 9 Spa. My husband and I always look for spa deals during our sea days. Pedicures, manicures, massages, and aromatherapy treatments provide a fantastic way for couples to unwind on a ship. If your partner isn’t keen on spa treatments, many Dinogo ships offer access to the Hydrotherapy pool and thermal suite with a day pass. This allows you to relax at your leisure while still enjoying the spa atmosphere.
How would you spend quality time on a cruise?
