Marriott is acquiring one of Hilton's premier hotels in New York City.

Recently, TPG highlighted some disappointing news for Hilton Honors members eager to redeem points or secure award stays in NYC: The Conrad New York Midtown is leaving Hilton's brand.
While the future of the property was uncertain initially, it has now been confirmed that Hilton's departure translates to a win for Marriott. The Conrad New York Midtown will henceforth be referred to as The Luxury Collection Hotel Manhattan Midtown.
This is part of a trend, as Marriott has recently secured three luxury hotels, including the New York location now joining its Luxury Collection. Additionally, The Resort at Pelican Hill in California is transitioning to a St. Regis, and Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii will soon be rebranded as a Ritz-Carlton.
In a prior statement to TPG, Hilton indicated that the management agreement for Conrad New York Midtown would conclude on June 4, 2024, at 11:59 PM, noting that the decision was mutual and allows both sides to pursue new ventures.
As we predicted, one of Hilton's competitors has quickly taken the opportunity to incorporate a luxury property into its prestigious collection.
For those curious about the point requirements for staying at the 54th Street hotel near landmarks like Carnegie Hall and Central Park, Marriott Bonvoy members will need to be patient. The new Marriott page hasn't yet updated to show point availability.

Cash rates will be available starting in June, with prices ranging from $512 to $930 per night.
As for Hilton, there’s no need for concern. The brand is preparing for the eagerly awaited reopening of the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. After a significant renovation lasting several years, the refreshed property will celebrate its original design while introducing a modern flair throughout its 375 rooms.
