"For those traveling from the U.S. and its territories, Hawai'i will only recognize Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT) from certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) labs, alongside results from trusted testing and travel partners like Azova, Clear, and CommonPass," according to the state's COVID-19 portal. "Travelers must upload their vaccination documents to Safe Travels and have a printed copy ready before departure, ensuring they carry a hard copy upon arriving in Hawaiʻi."

Accepted vaccines include those approved or authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization; a comprehensive list can be found via the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention here.

If you lack a vaccination certificate or a negative test, you will be required to undergo a mandatory five-day quarantine.

"Given the swift decrease in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, we can safely remove the proof-of-vaccination requirement for bars, restaurants, and gyms," stated Maui Mayor Michael Victorino on February 18. "We have successfully prevented our healthcare system from being overwhelmed, and I want to extend my gratitude to the community and especially the business owners who have endured throughout this pandemic."

At present, an indoor mask mandate is still enforced statewide, although Hawaii Governor David Ige may consider lifting it due to mounting external pressure, as Hawaii remains the only U.S. state broadly requiring face masks indoors.
