Nicola Sturgeon has stated that, due to coronavirus restrictions, US President Donald Trump would not be allowed in Scotland at this time.

According to Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump, like any foreign visitor, would be barred from entering Scotland due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.
During a press briefing, Sturgeon was questioned about unverified reports in Scottish media suggesting that Trump might visit one of his golf courses in Scotland around President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany dismissed the rumors on Tuesday, stating, 'This is not correct. President Trump has no plans to visit Scotland,' in a comment to Dinogo.
On Monday, in response to rising Covid-19 cases and deaths, Sturgeon imposed a stringent lockdown across most of Scotland for the remainder of January.
The order mandates that residents of Scotland must remain at home unless it is for an essential reason, such as caregiving, necessary shopping, permitted exercise, or participation in an extended household.
Sturgeon remarked, 'I have no insight into Donald Trump’s travel intentions. However, I do hope and expect that his immediate plan is to leave the White House. Beyond that, I can’t say.'
She further clarified, 'At this time, we are not permitting anyone to enter Scotland without a valid essential purpose, and this rule applies to him as it does to everyone else.'
Sturgeon concluded, 'Visiting Scotland for a round of golf does not qualify as an essential purpose in my view.'
