Preparation Details:Servings: 4
Total Time: 15 Minutes
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
INGREDIENTS LIST:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1½ cups diced pineapple
- ½ medium red onion, chopped
- 1 lime, zested and juiced
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- 1 tbsp Jamaican jerk seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- whole wheat burger buns
- sliced red onion
- lettuce
- coconut oil, as needed
LET'S GET COOKING WITH THOSE T-BURGERS:
- In a bowl, mix the ground turkey with the jerk seasoning until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the meat tender.
- Split the turkey mixture into four equal parts and form into patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- If grilling the burgers, place a greased sheet of aluminum foil on the grill grates (to prevent crumbling). Put the patties on the foil and cook over high heat until one side is golden brown. Flip them, cooking until browned on the other side. Lower the heat to medium, close the grill lid, and continue cooking until the meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
- If frying the burgers, heat a thin layer of coconut oil in a large skillet over high heat. Cook the patties until one side is golden brown, then flip. Cook until browned on the other side, reduce the heat to medium, cover, and cook for an additional 5–6 minutes until the meat is fully cooked and no longer pink.
- For a tasty twist, mix together the pineapple, bell pepper, red onion, lime zest and juice, and cilantro in a bowl for a delicious salsa to top your burgers.
