Right now, you can book The New York Edition for under 50,000 points.
While hotels in New York City can be quite pricey, there are still great deals available if you're flexible.
For a spontaneous night in the Big Apple or a local staycation, The New York Edition, one of the trendiest hotels in the city, offers several weekend nights in August for less than 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, along with a few other nights under 60,000 points. This is a fantastic deal, especially since award nights for the rest of the year start at 70,000 points, with many nights exceeding 80,000 points.

MARRIOTTIf you have Chase Ultimate Rewards points (from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card), there’s currently a 70% transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy. With a 1:1 transfer ratio, you can book the 46,400 Marriott Bonvoy award nights by transferring just 28,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
Keep in mind that TPG's August 2024 valuation for Chase Ultimate Rewards points is 2.05 cents each, meaning 28,000 Chase points are valued around $574, which is approximately $17 less than the Sunday stay priced at $591.02.
If you're looking to book a weekend getaway from Friday, Aug. 16, to Monday, Aug. 19, it will cost you 152,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, while the cash price (including taxes and fees) for those three nights is $2,475.34. By using points, you’ll be getting about 1.63 cents per point, which is well above our August 2024 valuation of 0.85 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point.
MARRIOTTThis is where the Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus proves invaluable. To acquire 152,000 Marriott points with the 70% transfer bonus, you would need to transfer 90,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Given TPG's current August 2024 valuation of 2.05 cents per Chase point, those 90,000 points are worth approximately $1,845, allowing you to save over $630 on this mid-August weekend at The New York Edition compared to the cash price of $2,475.34.

When can you snag a good deal in New York?
The best time to visit New York City for budget-friendly options is during the quieter, chillier months following New Year's Eve, particularly during New York City Hotel Week, when you'll find fantastic cash rates throughout January and early February. These deals are typically announced in late November or early December, so be sure to check back for our updates.
Even without city-sponsored discounts, you can start planning a winter getaway to New York City. If you're willing to forgo the hustle and bustle of Times Square on New Year's Eve, The New York Edition offers comparable award rates for the first weekend in January. On the weekend of Jan. 3, nightly rates range from 54,000 to 58,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.
MARRIOTTYes, it can be chilly, but the streets are much quieter, and the holiday lights usually remain, making it an ideal time to soak in the festive atmosphere without battling large crowds of tourists.
