Barú Marisquería
Balaio IMS
Chef Rodrigo Oliveira, renowned for his culinary prowess at Mocotó, has now brought his talent to downtown São Paulo, specifically to the prestigious Paulista Avenue. At Balaio, he presents an expanded array of contemporary Brazilian dishes — from crispy pasteis to the traditional moqueca fish stew, featuring cashew fruit. His famous dadinhos de tapioca, crispy tapioca and cheese cubes, are a must-try, just like at Mocotó. Located within the Instituto Moreira Salles cultural center, Balaio has quickly become a prominent spot for modern Brazilian cuisine.
Fabrique Pão e Café
In São Paulo, finding high-quality bread can be a challenge, given the city’s extensive baking tradition. Fabrique Pão e Café makes it easier with its blend of French and Italian baking techniques. Their naturally leavened baguette, crafted from French flour and slow fermentation, is a highlight, along with croissants, including one with a fried egg and fleur de sel. Their sandwiches, particularly the classic misto quente (grilled ham and cheese), are also exceptional and pair well with a fine coffee.
Capivara Bar
From the outside, Capivara Bar appears unremarkable, with its metal garage doors and lack of signage. However, stepping inside reveals the charm of Rodrigo Felício’s cuisine, who previously worked at the Ritz Carlton’s L’Espadon. Located in the remote Barra Funda neighborhood, this spot offers communal seating and a daily-changing menu displayed on a letter board, sometimes featuring political messages. Felício specializes in fresh fish, and the menu highlights the catch of the day, accompanied by sides like mashed cauliflower and seasonal grilled vegetables, reflecting his creative touch.
Hot Pork
Chef Jefferson Rueda, known for his popular A Casa do Porco, has now introduced Hot Pork, a hot dog-focused Mytoury with a dedication to perfection. After spending three years mastering the art of the hot dog, Rueda offers handmade buns and sausages. The hot dogs are simply topped with guava ketchup, tucupi mustard, and pickled onions, with a vegetarian option called the Not Pork, made from tofu and mushrooms. The drink selection features natural sodas, beers, and ciders on tap.
Bar Fel
Situated within the iconic Copan building designed by Oscar Niemeyer, Bar Fel is a gem in the recently revitalized downtown São Paulo. This intimate bar exudes a speakeasy ambiance with its dim lighting and curated music. It offers a selection of classic cocktails from bygone eras, like the Avenue from the 1930s, made with bourbon, Calvados, grenadine, orange blossom water, passionfruit, and orange bitters. Bartender Michelly Rossi crafts an exceptional experience for cocktail enthusiasts.
Café do Farol
Café do Farol is a fresh addition to the revitalization of one of São Paulo’s landmark structures. Once the Banespa building from 1939, now known as Farol Santander, this project boasts an indoor skateboard park, art galleries, and even a spacious Airbnb. Located on the 26th floor, this café is renowned for its espresso and coffee, brewed from beans sourced from Mogiana Paulista, a premier coffee region in Brazil. The café also serves snacks like pão de queijo, cakes, and a delectable coffee pudding, along with lunch and brunch options crafted by chef Victor Dimitrow. Enjoy these delights while taking in some of the city's most breathtaking views.
