The Sydney Opera House lit up its sails in a heartfelt tribute to Australian firefighters.

Over the weekend, the Sydney Opera House paid tribute to Australian firefighters with a deeply moving light display.
On Saturday evening, the iconic venue displayed powerful images of firefighters battling bushfires throughout Australia, lighting up its sails for hours.
One of the projections featured a hand-painted sign with heart symbols, simply reading “THANK YOU FIRIES.”
The Opera House expressed its gratitude on Twitter, saying, “We aim to convey a message of hope and strength, while thanking the emergency services and volunteers for their bravery and dedication.”
The New South Wales Rural Fire Service posted a video on Facebook showcasing the Opera House's illuminated sails.
“Tonight, the iconic sails of the Sydney Opera House have been lit up in a heartfelt tribute,” the fire service stated.
Australia is enduring its most devastating fire season ever, with at least 27 fatalities, including volunteer firefighters, since the season began in late July. Over 2,000 homes have been lost or damaged, and entire towns have been evacuated.
The Sydney Opera House also announced plans to co-host a comedy gala fundraiser in March, with proceeds benefiting communities impacted by the fires.
