The Weekly Bulletin: January 27, 2022 Edition
Brrr! It's chilly outside. ❄️
We're nearing the end of January 2022—time really flies when you're dreaming about upcoming adventures. As we approach February, here’s the latest scoop on what’s unfolding in the travel world.
The Quick Update
With several destinations re-evaluating their COVID-19 travel guidelines and an uptick in visitors to National Parks, here’s the latest in the travel landscape.
- Who’s easing up on restrictions. The UK. If you’re heading to London, the British Government has lifted COVID-19 testing requirements for vaccinated travelers arriving in England.
- Which other nations are joining this trend? Ireland. At the start of the year, the country eliminated pre-departure COVID-19 testing for travelers and has fully reopened bars and restaurants. This could be encouraging news for those planning a European getaway this year.
- Say “aloha” to booster mandates. Hawai’i might soon require proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including boosters, as part of its local tourism regulations. Ticket holders should note: this new rule may be implemented as early as mid-February.
- More than just a stroll in the park. Recently, US National Parks like Yellowstone and The Great Smoky Mountains have reported record visitation numbers. Travelers should be prepared for busy trails and campsites in the most popular parks as we move into 2022.
- Do you have a mask handy? This week marks the start of distributing free N95 masks to the public across the US, available at places where you pick up travel-sized necessities, like pharmacies and grocery stores.

Introducing “trip stacking” – it’s becoming quite popular. As reported by Travel + Leisure, a new trend is gaining traction among travelers who’ve faced airline cancellations and changing travel restrictions. This concept, known as “trip stacking,” involves booking multiple trips simultaneously (with flexible cancellation options, of course) to have backup plans in place if the original itinerary encounters issues.
How can you successfully implement trip stacking? It’s a luxury to be able to plan – and afford – several trips simultaneously. However, we’ve got some tips for how the average traveler can achieve this.
- Stay informed on travel trends. Our Flight Trends provide insights into shifting travel interests – which can often signal great deals for travelers.
- Monitor price fluctuations. Set up a Price Alert for multiple destinations simultaneously. We’ll notify you whenever prices change – and when we predict a great deal is coming your way.
- Lock in those prices. Considering some alternatives for plans B, C, and D? Use Price Freeze – for a small fee, you can secure your search results while you finalize your decisions.
