Anticipating gas prices and summer travel plans.
Jet fuel costs have been rising steadily for months. Coupled with the increase you're seeing at gas stations, we expect to see a rise in airfare for summer travel (along with higher costs to refuel your rental car). That's why we suggest booking your summer vacations now—especially when you find a good deal. Here are some tips to help you stay ahead.
- Lock in your rates now, travel later. Price Lock allows you to “lock” flight prices for a small fee. If prices drop, you’ll pay the lower amount.
- Create an alert & know when to book Price Notifications keep you informed if prices change for a flight or hotel, saving you time and money.
- Pay for your trip in installments Partnering with Uplift, travelers can choose to pay for select flights in interest-free payments.
- Go electric (i.e., your rental car) Utilize search filters to easily find eco-friendly vehicle options like hybrids and electric cars.
The pre-screening process
The latest updates on regions relaxing COVID guidelines, a deeper dive into oil prices and travel, and a compelling argument for setting aside your anxiety and arriving later for your flight.

- Where masks are coming off. Puerto Rico lifted its mask mandate last Thursday.
- Additional rollbacks. The UK is removing all COVID travel restrictions, including testing for unvaccinated travelers upon arrival and completing a passenger locator form. Hawaii will follow suit on March 25.
- Controversial opinion: you’re arriving at the airport too early. We’re not sure how we feel about this, but Brad Japhe from the Washington Post argues for reducing your airport time by half.
