This week, we’ve got updates on high spenders, new EU travel regulations, destinations that aren’t requiring tests for vaccinated travelers, and more. Dive into the latest travel news!
- Go big or go (anywhere but) home. Americans are eager to travel again, as travel and event companies report attendance is surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
- What do EU regulations mean for registration? Beginning in spring 2023, US citizens will need a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) visa waiver to visit many European nations.
- Who’s ready for a bunch of boosters? The CDC has revised its cruise guidelines, reducing the risk assessment to include fully-vaccinated and boosted travelers. No booster? They recommend avoiding cruises.
- Will we need to take tests for this? Apparently not – these 10 destinations do not require a COVID-19 test for fully vaccinated travelers.
- A subscription service tailored for travel. Alaska Airlines is introducing a subscription model called Flight Pass. Travelers on the West Coast can subscribe for 6, 12, or 24 nonstop flights per year.

What to do if your passport needs updating. As international travel picks up again, many of us are excited to dust off and renew our passports. According to CN Traveler, the White House is working on making this process virtual soon. In the meantime, here’s a guide on how to renew your passport:
- Mail it in. If your old passport meets specific criteria, you can renew by mailing it along with a completed DS-82 form instead of going in person.
- Visit in person. If you don’t qualify for online renewal, you’ll need to apply in person. Be sure to schedule an appointment in advance.
- Smile for the camera. New passport = new photo. Make sure to follow the photo guidelines to avoid delays in processing due to an improper picture.
