This London district boasts top-notch theaters, remarkable museums, and trendy cocktail lounges.
Having visited London five times, I've explored many must-see attractions, especially with my young nieces on two trips—first-time travelers abroad. We took a ride on an open-top bus, observed the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, enjoyed panoramic views from the London Eye, and toured Kensington Palace. We also picked up souvenirs at Covent Garden Market and relished fish and chips at a local pub.
I spent a day in Greenwich with a friend, arriving from Paris via Eurostar, then taking the Underground and a scenic riverboat cruise. My initial visit to London years ago included stops at Hyde Park, Westminster Abbey, and the Tower of London. Yet, despite these short trips, I still lacked a comprehensive understanding of London’s diverse neighborhoods and their connections.
During my latest visit, with plans centered around theater and shopping, I chose London’s West End as my home base to immerse myself in this vibrant part of the city. Renowned for its Oxford Street shops, dining options, museums, Piccadilly Circus, and over 40 theaters, the West End provided everything I needed in one convenient location. I discovered more than enough activities to keep me engaged from dawn till dusk for nearly a week. If theater, shopping, and a touch of history intrigue you, this guide will lead you through London’s West End.
