This Vibrant New Hotel in Paris Is a Paradise for Design Enthusiasts
The Dinogo perspective
Maisons Pariente, the hospitality group renowned for its cherished French retreats like Crillon Le Brave, Lou Pinet, and Le Coucou, unveiled its inaugural urban hotel in September 2023 in the lively Le Marais district. You might easily overlook Le Grand Mazarin’s subtle entrance, but the small lobby, adorned with a pleated fabric ceiling, intricate basket-woven parquet flooring, and tasseled wall sconces, makes a striking design impression. Swedish architect Martin Brudnizki crafted the bold interiors, drawing inspiration from 18th-century French literary salons to design spaces including the restaurant, bar, spa, and pool area.

Who is it for?
Design enthusiasts who appreciate vibrant colors and exquisite decor, and wish to stay in one of Paris's trendiest areas. Couples and friends will feel right at home in these stylish accommodations. Families are also warmly embraced, thanks to spacious suites, connecting rooms, and amenities like cribs and baby tubs.
The location
Nestled at the lively intersection of Rue de la Verrerie and Rue des Archives in the fashionable Le Marais district, the hotel is just steps from the historic 14th-century Hôtel de Ville (Paris's City Hall), near the Seine and Île de la Cité, and within easy reach of numerous shops, cafés, and bars. Art aficionados will love the hotel's closeness to renowned museums such as Le Centre Pompidou, Musée National Picasso Paris, and Musée Carnavalet (the oldest museum in Paris). While the area is bustling during the day, it truly comes alive at night. Although this neighborhood is a bit farther from popular attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, that means it's less crowded with tourists.
Le Grand Mazarin is perfect for design lovers who adore vibrant colors and stunning decor, and who want to stay in one of the coolest parts of Paris.
The rooms
With 50 guest rooms and 11 suites, each uniquely shaped due to the historic architecture, the accommodations boast a playful design filled with vibrant couches, chairs, and decorative pillows. Unique details crafted in collaboration with local artists enhance the experience. Beds are adorned with ornate Aubusson-style tapestry canopies from Art de Lys, a French Living Heritage Company, reminiscent of a bygone era. These are paired with eclectic table lamps by artists Claudia Cauville (who designed the curvy gilt legs) and Laura Horrocks (who painted the vibrant shades). Wardrobes feature crustacean-inspired wallpaper, while luxurious sateen sheets by Garnier Thiébaut are detailed with scalloped embroidery.

The food and drink
Israeli chef Assaf Granit honors Eastern European Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine at Boubalé (a term of endearment in Yiddish), blending it with Moroccan, Syrian, and Iraqi Sephardic influences. Creative dishes include seafood kneidlach, a twist on dumplings stuffed with beef; lakerda, pickled bonito paired with crème fraîche, dates, and tomatoes; and for dessert, a delightful babka mousse. Le Bar de Boubalé features craft cocktails in a coral and turquoise setting, while the Library Bar transforms several times a week with modular decor and a dynamic entertainment lineup. In warmer months, enjoy a glass of champagne on the charming patio terrace, adorned with garden frescoes by artist Sophia Pega.
Staff and service
In this bohemian atmosphere, the attentive service pleasantly surprises, catering to every need—whether you seek local recommendations or wish to arrange exclusive tours and access to nearby highlights like the chic lifestyle department store BHV Marais, the historic Marché des Enfants Rouges, or the Musée Carnavalet.
Accessibility
All public entrances and spaces are wheelchair accessible, with elevators serving every floor. Three rooms are specially designed for guests with reduced mobility, featuring larger doors and handrails in the bathrooms.
Spa and Swim
The wellness area located in the basement feels like a hidden retreat in the center of Paris. It features a mosaic-tiled indoor pool and whirlpool, all beneath a barrel-vaulted ceiling adorned with a fresco by local artist Jacques Merle. Guests can also enjoy a hammam, a fitness center, and a spa treatment room where they can experience treatments by Anne Cali, renowned among Parisians for her GAD (Glisser-Appuyer-Décoller) massage technique, which promotes skin health, reduces fat, and enhances venous and lymphatic circulation.
