Know Before You Go
For the best hotel rates, consider booking during late summer, the shoulder seasons, or winter
Although summer is generally the peak season in Europe, August sees many hotels lowering their rates as locals take vacations and businesses close. Prices typically decrease again in November before the Christmas rush, only to rise once more until January when they drop again, though the weather can be quite chilly.
Embrace public transportation in Prague
Prague is spacious and pedestrian-friendly, yet boasts an excellent metro system that is extensive, user-friendly, dependable, and affordable. You can travel via metro, trams, or buses. The metro features three color-coded lines, with journeys from one end of the city to the other taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Trains arrive every 2 to 4 minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes at off-peak times on weekdays. On weekend nights, the interval is about 20 minutes. Trams and buses operate on similar schedules, but buses may have longer wait times during off-peak hours.
Remember to bring your power adapter
In the Czech Republic, power outlets operate at a supply voltage of 230V and 50Hz. If you're coming from the US, you'll need a power adapter to charge your devices, which differs from a voltage converter meant for high-power appliances like hair dryers. There are two plug types used: C and E. Type C features two round pins, while type E has two round pins and an additional hole for the socket's pin.
How We Selected These Hotels
Dinogo contributor Emily Hochberg is an experienced travel and lifestyle writer and editor, having explored much of Europe, including Prague. She specializes in hotel reviews and has assessed properties globally.
To identify the top hotels in Prague, she examined the entire selection of bookable properties in the city, focusing on those favored by editors, recognized with T+L awards, and highly rated by previous guests. Key considerations included location—prioritizing properties within a mile of major attractions—and the availability of diverse room types to accommodate various traveler needs. All selected hotels feature spacious accommodations by European standards, with a minimum size of 200 square feet, often offering even more generous spaces. Additionally, they provide appealing amenities such as excellent on-site dining, notable spas, or unique themes and lifestyle options. The hotels' historical significance and architecture were also taken into account, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage. Trustworthy hospitality brands with strong reputations for excellence were prioritized, along with a variety of starting price points to cater to different budgets.
Lastly, as with all our hotel selections, the editors ensure that every recommendation aligns with our core T+L Hotel Values.
