Visiting Singapore during Covid-19: Essential information for your trip

If you're planning a trip to Singapore during the Covid-19 pandemic, here's everything you need to know and what to expect before you go.

The essentials
Similar to many countries in the region, Singapore has moved away from its “zero Covid” policy, adopting a more progressive approach instead.
As of the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, over 88% of Singapore’s 5.45 million residents have been vaccinated.
What’s available
As a dynamic and modern Asian metropolis, Singapore’s impressive skyline and stunning waterfront make it an alluring destination. Add to that some of the world’s finest street food, served in its iconic hawker centers, along with the lush greenery of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, and this city-state offers more than enough to captivate curious visitors.
Who is eligible to visit
Having tested vaccinated travel lanes with select countries, Singapore is now advancing its strategy of 'living with the virus.'
The nation is welcoming nearly all leisure travelers, though some restrictions remain for those who are unvaccinated. More details are outlined below.
What are the entry requirements?
Vaccinated travelers and children under 12 are allowed to enter Singapore by air or sea without the need for a PCR test.
Unvaccinated travelers still need to provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure. However, starting August 29, they will no longer need to undergo a seven-day quarantine at home or a hotel.
Domestic restrictions have also been greatly relaxed.
Wearing masks outdoors is no longer mandatory. Beginning August 29, masks will also be optional indoors, except in specific places like hospitals, doctor's offices, and on public transport.
Masks are not mandatory in private vehicles such as cars and taxis.
There are no restrictions on the size of crowds or groups, and safe distancing measures are no longer in effect.
The TraceTogether app is being gradually discontinued.
For visitors needing a PCR test to return home, a list of government-approved clinics offering Covid-19 tests can be found here.
Passengers with layovers are allowed in designated airport areas but cannot leave unless they have a confirmed reservation at one of Changi’s two airport hotels.

What’s the current Covid situation like?
Singapore is adopting a “live with the virus” approach, though it advises caution in light of potential new variants.
The government has urged residents to get Covid booster shots. According to new rules, a person's 'fully vaccinated' status will expire 270 days after the second dose unless they receive a booster to reset the clock.
As of August 25, Singapore has reported approximately 1.8 million confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,584 deaths.
What should visitors expect during their trip?
Travelers are encouraged to download the TraceTogether app in advance and register their details, although activation is only possible after passing through customs.
Once leaving Singapore, visitors are asked to keep the app installed on their phones for 21 days before deleting it. This allows authorities to conduct contact tracing in the event of potential Covid exposure.
US CDC Travel Advisory:
Level 3: High. It is recommended that you are fully vaccinated before traveling.
