Wells Fargo Rewards program: How to earn, redeem, and transfer points

With the introduction of the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card (refer to rates and fees), Wells Fargo has updated its travel rewards program, incorporating a total of six transfer partners—including five airlines and one hotel—into the Wells Fargo Rewards program. In September, the rewards program added another transfer partner: Virgin Atlantic Flying Club/Virgin Red.
Previously, holders of the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card (see rates and fees) could earn points and redeem them at a value of 1 cent per dollar through the portal. However, with the addition of transfer partners, Wells Fargo points have become more valuable, allowing cardholders to maximize their rewards through transferable points.

How to earn points in the Wells Fargo Rewards program
To earn Wells Fargo Rewards points, you must make purchases with your Wells Fargo credit card. By signing up for the Autograph Journey Card, you can receive 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 within the first three months. If you redeem your rewards through the Wells Fargo portal, your points will be valued at 1 cent each, making this bonus equivalent to $600. However, you can obtain greater value from your welcome bonus points by transferring them to travel partners.
Learn more about maximizing your points and miles by subscribing to our daily newsletter.

In addition to earning points through the welcome bonus, you will receive 5 points for every dollar spent at hotels, 4 points per dollar on airline purchases, 3 points per dollar on other travel and restaurant expenses, and 1 point for every dollar spent on other purchases.
If you're looking for a no-annual-fee credit card, consider the Wells Fargo Autograph Card, which offers 20,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first three months. Additionally, you will earn 3 points for every dollar spent on restaurants (including dining in, takeout, catering, delivery, and more), travel-related expenses (airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, etc.), gas (at gas stations and electric vehicle charging stations), transit (subways, ride-hailing services, parking, tolls, etc.), streaming services, and phone plans. You will also earn 1 point for every dollar spent on other purchases.
Although no longer open to new applicants, the Wells Fargo Visa Signature® card allows you to redeem points for travel at a value of 1.5 cents each through the online portal.

How to redeem your Wells Fargo Rewards points
To redeem your points, log into your credit card account or the mobile app and navigate to the Wells Fargo Rewards page. From there, hover over "Use Rewards" and choose your preferred redemption method.
You can use your points for various travel expenses, such as flights and hotel stays, make charitable contributions, purchase items from retailers, pay for eligible purchases using points, buy gift cards, or receive a statement credit for prior purchases.
When redeeming for travel, Wells Fargo Rewards points are worth 1 cent each. However, other redemption options, like buying gift cards or products from retailers, may yield a lower value.
To transfer your points, hover over "Use Rewards" and select "Rewards Points Transfer." This will display a list of available airline and hotel transfer partners.

Next, click on "Link accounts" for the partner you wish to connect, enter your partner account number, and then click "Continue."

You will receive a confirmation message indicating that the accounts have been successfully linked (this process takes just a few seconds). From there, you can transfer points if you have any available. If you choose "Cancel," you will return to the main transfer page, which now features a new expandable menu labeled "My linked rewards programs."

Unlike many other credit card rewards programs, transfers do not require a minimum point threshold and can be made in any amount. Keep in mind that transfers are final and cannot be reversed, so be sure to check award availability on the partner's site if you are transferring points for a specific redemption. Additionally, transfers may not occur immediately, so plan accordingly when booking award travel.
Wells Fargo Rewards credit cards
While Wells Fargo offers various credit cards, including cash rewards options, you can currently earn Wells Fargo Rewards points exclusively with the following cards:
- Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card
- Wells Fargo Autograph Card
Both cards provide a compelling welcome bonus, enabling you to accumulate points for your upcoming travel or shopping needs.
With the addition of new transferable partners, we are thrilled to see Wells Fargo enhancing its loyalty program. Moreover, it wouldn't be surprising if the roster of airline and hotel partners continues to expand over the next couple of years to stay competitive with other credit card rewards programs.
