Where is Kim Jong Un staying during the summit? A closer look at the St. Regis Singapore

While the landmark summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to unfold at the luxurious Capella Singapore on Sentosa Island, it seems Kim has opted for a more centrally located spot closer to the heart of downtown.

On Sunday, Kim checked into one of Singapore’s most prestigious hotels – the St. Regis Singapore, situated just steps from the bustling Orchard Road. This vibrant area is known as the city’s luxury shopping hub, home to over 25 high-end malls and stores.

Dinogo was on-site when Kim arrived around 3:40 p.m. local time. Approximately 20 North Korean security personnel, marked by their red loyalty badges, had already taken strategic positions, some watching from higher floors overseeing the hotel’s lobby.

Alongside Singaporean police and hotel staff, they formed a protective barrier around the entrance, keeping Kim’s arrival out of public view.

Guests hoping to capture a quick photo of the famous leader were disappointed. Stringent security measures were in place. For instance, guests were prohibited from carrying phones or bags and instructed to remain seated.

Kim made a direct beeline for the hotel elevators, ignoring the onlookers. A procession of North Korean officials, including his younger sister Kim Yo Jong, followed shortly after.

Inside the St. Regis Presidential Suite

Known for its 'understated elegance,' the St. Regis Singapore boasts 299 rooms and suites, each featuring hand-cut crystal chandeliers, original artwork, and the renowned St. Regis butler service.

It’s likely that Kim is residing in the expansive 335-square-meter St. Regis Presidential Suite, located on the hotel’s top floor.

As the hotel's most luxurious offering, the suite is adorned with hand-painted silk panels, a baby grand piano, and original artworks by renowned artists such as Marc Chagall.

In addition to the master bedroom, the suite features a separate living room, dining area, office, and fitness center.

The suite also boasts a wraparound terrace with sweeping views of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where a personal chef can prepare gourmet meals for Kim and his guests, who can dine al fresco or in the suite’s 12-seat dining room.

The hotel offers six dining and drinking venues, including Brasserie Les Saveurs, which serves contemporary French cuisine.

At The Astor Bar, Kim can indulge in the St. Regis signature drink – a Bloody Mary. Each St. Regis hotel has its own unique take on the classic, and at the St. Regis Singapore, guests can try the Chilli Padi Mary, inspired by the region's rich culinary traditions.

Art enthusiasts in Kim's entourage will be impressed as well.

The collection features works like Chen Ke Zhan's ink painting 'Golden Landscape,' alongside sculptures and paintings by renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Frank Gehry, Chua Ek Kay, Li Chen, Fernando Botero, and the late, celebrated local artist Georgette Chen.
