You can finally discover what your Uber drivers truly think of you

Have you ever wanted to know your Uber driver's honest opinion about you? Do they prefer quiet passengers with headphones and face masks, or do they enjoy chatting during the ride?
Today is your fortunate day, as riders now have insight into the factors that influence their ratings and additional details about their ride history.
To view your rating details in the Uber app, follow these three simple steps:
- Open the settings menu, select privacy, and then tap on Privacy Center.
- In the Privacy Center, swipe right and click on the tile that asks "would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber?".
- Scroll down to the "browse your data" section and tap on "View my ratings" to check the breakdown.

"Uber believes users should have greater control and transparency over their data, so we're simplifying access to privacy settings by consolidating them in one place for both rides and deliveries," a company spokesperson informed TPG. "The Privacy Center also features transparency tools that clarify how your data influences your trip and delivery experiences."
While this process is appreciated by some, it may not be as straightforward as it appears, at least according to TPG senior reporter David Slotnick.
"This is good, as I consider myself a very conscientious passenger, yet I somehow only have a 4.7 rating," he remarked. "But could they make this navigation any more complicated?"
Conversely, some of us simply don’t care about these ratings at all.
"I really don't care if my rating is high or low. I behave normally as a passenger, but I can't understand why anyone would worry about a driver's opinion of them," stated TPG senior writer Benjamin Smithson. "I'm paying for a service. Imagine if, after getting off a plane, the crew held scorecards for each passenger?"
However, he makes a valid point. If your Uber rating matters to you, the company offers some tips for achieving a five-star experience:
- "Pack it in, pack it out: Drivers shouldn’t be responsible for cleaning up after you. Always take your trash and belongings with you. Don't leave a mess behind.
- Buckle Up: Research shows that unbuckled backseat passengers can increase the risk of injury for the driver in a crash. So always buckle up for your safety and that of the driver.
- Be ready: Remember, drivers value their time and shouldn't have to wait for you. A smooth pickup benefits everyone, so be prepared when the driver arrives.
- Treat everyone and everything with respect: As emphasized in our Community Guidelines, we want both riders and drivers to feel safe and respected. Always treat your driver and their vehicle as you would wish to be treated.
- Don't slam the door! It’s easy to accidentally slam a door if you're not mindful, and drivers often cite door slams as a reason for deducting stars."
TPG executive editor Scott Mayerowitz would also add to this list, pointing out that "car seats are quite a hassle" and that "drivers dislike the time spent clicking them in and out." Nonetheless, Mayerowitz, who lives in NYC and is a father, maintains a rating of 4.76 stars.

Among U.S. riders, those from San Antonio have the highest average ratings:
- San Antonio
- St. Louis
- Nashville
- Salt Lake City
- Kansas City
- Sacramento
- Tampa Bay

It may come as no surprise that residents of New York City have the lowest average rider ratings among the top 10:
- New York City
- Seattle
- Washington, DC
- Boston
- Minneapolis-St. Paul
- San Francisco
- Philadelphia
- Los Angeles
- Baltimore
- Chicago
