We were travelling northern Thailand, and whilst at the Doi Chang area, we decided to stay at Mobu for Christmas Day. On arrival, we realise this is a brand new accommodation that has only been open since the beginning of December (around 3 weeks). It felt clean, new and modern. The lady who warmly welcomed us was so lovely. She was young and friendly and we were very excited to be there. We were looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the room with a nice view and balcony all day. We were greeted with a lovely tea set. However, there were some downfalls and I have summarised the good and bad experiences of our stay below.Advantages- Clean room- comfortable bed- spacious bathroom with two sinks, a shower and a bath tub- a big patio/balcony with a jacuzzi and a view- lovely service and the lady who served us was very kind. There was only coffee available in the room, and I requested tea bags. She nicely brought me 6 teabags to take back to the room.- there is nice coffee making area in the room and the kettle is cute. But unfortunately there is no tea, or milk and sugar for the coffee… I found this a little odd. I asked for some milk and was given a carton of milk for the coffee.Disadvantages- the jacuzzi was freezing cold! We could not enjoy it at all and only dipped our toes into it for 10 seconds. Having a jacuzzi outside on the balcony/patio was one of the main reasons why we wanted to book Mobu… it was the biggest disappointment.- as we could not enjoy the jacuzzi, we tried running a bath. However, the water pressure was so weak, it took almost an hour to fill the tub. The water was not hot enough, and eventually, the water was cold by the time the bath tub was filled.- because we tried to have a bath, which failed, in the end there was not enough hot water for a shower.- we ordered the bbq hotpot set for dinner. We ended up getting food poisoning and my partner and I both vomited and had diarrhoea that night. My partner we to the bathroom almost every hour until morning. We stayed at Mobu all day since 2pm that day and started feeling unwell at 11pm until the next day, so there was nothing else to blame unfortunately! Unfortunately we didn’t even get to enjoy the breakfast as we could not eat or drink at all without feeling sick.Thankfully, the bathroom was nice and clean and bed was comfy, so at least we were in comfortable environment despite being very sick! The lady at Mobu was kind and did offer us rice although we did not take the offer. We were unable to request late check out as it was peak season and they had to clear the room for their next guest, which we could understand.Overall, I give it 3 stars because for the price of 8900 baht, I think it is too overpriced, and the quality does not reflect it yet. No hot water for the jacuzzi was a disappointment, and even more disappointed when we couldn’t even take a bath or have a decent shower. The coffee area is nice but I would be better if there is also tea, milk and sugar - this is a minimum requirement that even 3 star hotels would offer! I hope that Mobu can take my feedback further and make improvements so that future guests can have the best experience possible especially if they wish to continue to charge at such a high rate per night.
