Staying here was such a great experience. Yes, the treehouse is awesome and, yes, the grounds are beautiful but it is the people that made it such a magnificent stay. Shane, Carol, Winston, and the crew were the most hospitable and kind folks we've encountered throughout our Thailand trip. I feel like if need be, they would literally give you the shirt off their backs. Please treat them kindly and respectfully as they deserve it. It was raining when we got there and the power was out so Shane took us to the Walking Market in Chiang Mai. He told us to take our time as he patiently waited in the car. He is such a thoughtful man and apparently was a monk in his past. It's the sweetest thing that as he's conversing with you, he'll remember little tidbits about you like your favorite dishes and the next thing you know you're having it for breakfast and dinner! Carol is hilarious. Her blunt humor keeps you wide-eyed and laughing. Winston is wise. He'll drop such profound wisdom in disguise of cynicism but he keeps it classy. ;)As other reviewers mentioned, it is very remote. Come here preparing to relax and be away from it all. There's a small temple about 10 minutes away (walking) if you make a left from the property and this cafe with a nice view 15 minutes away if you make a right. There are excursions near by (elephant sanctuary, zip lining, ATV, and a night safari) that winston will set up for you and drive you to for a fee. Totally worth it so you don't have anything to worry about.I would very much like to make staying here once a year a tradition just to hang out with these nice folks in the middle of the jungle. I wish them nothing but success.
