Honestly, the beeeest hostel I've ever stayed at, I genuinely didn't want to leave :'( The atmosphere, the rooms, the cosy-ness, the social vibe, the people - everything about it was amazing. I first had only booked 1 night but ended up staying 2 whole weeks. The moment you enter the place, there will be someone welcoming you with a big smile. Everyone's friendly, nice and chatty - and there's always someone who's up for a chat chilling on the terrace outside.Amenity-wise it had everything you could ask for of a hostel and more: there's an equipped kitchen you can use, free coffee, muffins and fruits in the mornings, a terrace with couches where to chill, a fridge, a working space, balcony, free morning yoga classes, dance class in the evening and often there were also cosy events / goodbye parties / special free dinners - these were mostly spontaneously planned by the owner of the hostel - Tahsin, a man with the biggest kindest heart!!! He has really made this place feel like a home - at least it definitely felt like a home away from home for me. The man really cares about the guests and if they feel well there, if he can do anything to make their stay better which is why literally everyone I met there kept extending their stay (just like me). And - you could always rely on him to help out if in need! Pure heart, really.I loveeed my stay there, would absolutely return!!! Best place, best people, best vibes. Already miss it!!

Volunteers very nice but I never had a pillowcase during my stay despite requesting one and couldn't check in to my room until several hours after stated time which I think is unacceptable especially considering the inflated prices you are paying on the island around busy times.

I've never had a more meaningful experience at a hostel than here at Barsay.

Rooms were far from clean, dust everywhere. The toilets smelled and were often dirty. In addition, music is played at the reception from 08:00 to 23:30, which is very audible and palpable in the rooms attached to it. There is no privacy if you have the free-standing bed.Staff was friendly in contact.

One of the best hostels I stayed during my trip. Clean and rich facilities creates a great environment for socializing. Reception people are backpacker volunteers which contributes to common social areas of the hostel as there are always somebody throughout the day to meet and chat warmly. Owner of the hostel also stops by often who is a cool guy. Also very close to 7eleven and a big super market. You can cook your own food as well using the common kitchen. Absolutely recommeded.

The best thing about this place is its people. The staff is super nice, and the owner is an amazing person. When I reported that the AC wasn't working, the owner refunded my money. However, I owe them one day's rent, which I'll pay the next time I'm here.With some effort, the quality of the place could be improved, making it more competitive in the rental market.They also organize a pre-Full Moon Party with free shots and offer a 150 Baht per person taxi service to Haad Rin Full Moon Beach.

Stayed there for a week and didn't want to leave, feels like home away from home a great place to meet other backpackers from all over the world.Every morning the owner brings bananas and pastries And some nights there's also a social dinner for free. Highly recommend everyone who wants to meet great people in his time in Koh Pa-Ngan

I have had such a great time at this hostel, my favourite one thus far in south Thailand. So much so that I returned for a second stay. The people are really what made my experience here phenomenal. I have never felt more welcomed or at home that at this hostel, which is invaluable as a solo traveller. The staff/ volunteers that work here are fabulous and are so inclusive, particularly in arranging things to do day in and day out. A true highlight of my trip and have brought me so my joy.The rooms were the only slight downside. The first room I stayed in was not the cleanest and had a large vent to the outside which meant a lot of mosquitos and bugs. Additionally, on my final night on my first visit I found many cockroaches in my room, which led me to change rooms in the middle of the night.All of the other rooms that I saw looked much cleaner, so I think I was simply unlucky.Honestly, you have to stay here if you are ever on Koh Phangan! Loved it.

I stayed in a hostel in Koh Phangan for a month, and the experience was incredible. The owner is extremely kind and makes sure every guest feels welcome. Complimentary meals are regularly prepared on-site for all guests, adding a warm and friendly touch to the ambiance.The beds in the dormitories are very comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The hostel also offers convenient services such as scooter rentals and laundry services. The included breakfast is a great bonus, and the free yoga classes every morning are a wonderful way to start the day.The general atmosphere is very family-friendly, and you really feel at home. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for welcoming and comprehensive accommodation in Koh Phangan.

I ended up staying in this hostel for almost free weeks and I loved it. The family vibe makes you feel like home. There are a few social activities such as free yoga in the morning, sometimes food in the evening; there's a tv with Netflix and a lot of books!It's centrally located in Thong Sala: in a few minutes walking you can get to 7/11, food market and the pier. They can also arrange a scooter rental and laundry for a very fair price!I highly recommend spending some time in this hostel :)

I stayed here because my other choices were not available and although the place is not perfect It was perfect for me. It’s a place for travellers run by travellers (volunteers) with a laid back social atmosphere without the hectic party energy. There is a fridge, kitchen, drinking water, yoga, lots of common areas and breakfast available to guest which is amazing. Everyone was kind and helpful when I needed help with visas and getting to the ferry. My only suggestion would be for curtains or a females only dorm.

Great social hostel located not far from ferry pier, beaches and nightlife.It's safe and feels like home.It's actually the best location going North as you avoid all the city traffic.Nice friendly staff, arranging events and everything else.I would suggest a few little upgrades throughout, such as decor, bigger fridge, so much dead space in the main reception area taken up be unused cabinets / furniture. More sofas, with cushions. Whiskey glasses, if possible 😂Rooms are fine other than the showers , not great, need upgrades. Happy to use main showers throughout the hostel, which I preferred to not disturb rooms.Enjoy and thanks for the hospitality!! And would definitely stay again.Highly recommended.

March 2023: Located relatively close to the entry pier and easily walkable, scooter parking out front and more across the street. The front porch area is nice to hangout, with a quieter area at the back for socialising also. The facilities were relatively clean and maintained, though I think there was only cold water in the showers (not a major with the ambient heat). I’m the room the air-con was lovely, slightly dated ensuite, quite a firm bed, but each one wired with an individual light and plug. Large-ish lockers fit my 7kg carry on easily, though maybe not a tall pack. The staff and owner were friendly and always available, plus the dance and yoga classes in the activity room across the street were much appreciated. All that plus some tea/coffee/fruit/muffins in the morning made it a very nice stay.

It has been an amazing experience staying at Phangan Barsay Hostel. The social part of the hostel was very strong, but at the same time there were a lot of quiet places to work or just to chill out. The owner and the volunteers were very helpful about everything. Toilets and the showers were very clean, rooms were spacious and the AC was always working. Free yoga classes, muffins and fruits in the morning were the cherry on top for me. If you want a real holiday, this is the place to stay in Koh Phangan 💚💚💚

My favorite hostel I stayed in Thailand! It’s got a great community feel. You can choose to dip in and out of social activities in the communal area but there’s also quiet areas in the hostel. Location is central to town and not far from the beach
