We were a motley family group of 3 pally- pally sisters -in-laws , one brother & hubby & 2 senior citizens who shared 6 days & 5 nights at HomeBaan Chiangmai .One of the hosts of the guesthouse was Matthew Leong , who has an sonorous voice of rich timbre and a very engaging manner, never failing to enrich you with the politics and history of Chiangmai or anything else for that matter, in English which was a great bonus. He speaks a mean Thai too, but best of all, he is a more than competent chef , whipping up delicious but spicy curries / special Thai casseroles . I must also commend him of his local fruits-laden dining table, where any guest is welcome to partake of Chiangmai’s unique delicacies & desserts / fruits of the season. Matt also introduced & drove us to & fro many times to a reliable tailor who kept his shop open till near closing time to accommodate our busy tour schedules. ( Mr Raj of New Louis Tailor ).Another host is Ms Nattha, a generous , sincere and chatty lady who is more than willing to please our every whim & fancy , especially catering to our last minute changes to our Tour itinerary without any complaint . This to me, clearly attests to the Thai spirit of hospitality , gentleness & flexibility . Mind you-she’s also a v good barista, having tasted her artisan coffee daily .Rooms are well stocked with whatever is available in 4-5 star hotels & I had the privilege of having an attached bathroom ( with a very reliable hot shower!) with a mountain view which in the night, I look up & out in darkness to see a immobile coronet of golden lights suspended & affixed magically in the air ... so beautiful & distracting that I temporarily forget to continue soaping myself ..but in the morning , realised that it was the regal holiday palace & temple of Royal Thai family on the summit of a faraway mountain .We had a lot of fun & camaraderie in & out of HomeBaan with a “taste “ ( cuisine wise & culture too ) of what was Thai Chiangmai but best of all, surrounded by modern , clean amenities , peace & security in our hearts, knowing we were more than cared for & in safe & experienced hands.I will not hesitate to recommend other travellers toHomeBaan Chiangmai - after all , the proof of the pudding ( Matt’s thai curries ??) is the tasting !!!So give it a try ... I don’t think you will regret it . None of us did . Thank you !

Very knowledgeable and helpful hosts. I feel Matt and Nattha go out of their way to ensure the comfort & authentic Thai experience for guests.

Our family of 6 adults ( including 2 senior citizens) spent a week at the guest house - it was indeed a WONDERFUL experience. The hosts Matthew and Nattha took very good care of us in terms of great food, tours, shopping and whatever requests we throw at them. I always look forward to the breakfasts as Matthew is such a great cook and surprises us with different cuisines each time !! The place is clean and adequately stocked with snacks and free flow of tea coffee water .....The driver that took us around is a careful driver and doubles up as our photographer too - we call him “Mr Canon” as his Canon camera gave us excellent photos! This is the second time that we stayed here and will not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Try it - you will not regret !!

Our family group of 6 ranging in ages from 40s to 70s were well taken care of by Matthew and Nattha.Rooms and bathrooms were adequately stocked with clean amenities and free flow of tea, coffee and snacks every day. A sumptuous international and painstakingly home-cooked breakfast awaited us every morning such as goulash, grilled pork, fishball noodle soup and green and red chicken and meat curries.The guest house is conveniently located near the airport and markets, and restful with birds chirping in the morning. Our well-planned itinerary and careful drivers brought us to several mountains with beautiful scenery and plantations, hot springs, gardens with fruit and flowers of all hue and colours and various restaurants with delicious cuisines like Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai. We were also introduced to the best coffee and snacks in town!Additionally, they personally brought us to shopping malls, night markets, tailoring, jewelry and other retail shops, and daily massages as requested by us. Our hosts and drivers looked after us from early morning to late at night with never ending heartfelt hospitality. Will recommend Home Baan to anyone who wants an enjoyable and memorable Chiang Mai stay.
