21/1/2024 - This hotel (SeRee Mansion Hotel) is still in business, I am resting here for a while (RM40.00 for 2 hours) after went to Sunday Morning Market near PadangBesa Sadao, Wet Market. Just go on short vacation for a "Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan" on both side PadangBesa, Thailand & Padang Besar, Malaysia. It is better to go now (non-peak season) because it's crowded during Malaysia school holiday season.

In the event that you find yourself stuck in this border town in the evening, SeRee Mansion may just be the nicest hotel in town. This is not to say that SeRee is an amazing place, just that every other place in town ranges from slightly seedy to completely grotesque. This would be due to the clientele these hotels expect to receive are not your standard backpacker type - but rather those looking for an escapade that Thailand offers and neighbouring Malaysia would not.You will not find an ordinary hotel suited for travellers in this town - SeRee Mansion would be the closest place that fits that description. The hosts are two Muslim ladies that are very friendly.The room itself was clean and had aircon and a hot water shower. We had to wash our hands and brush our teeth on the balcony as that is where the washbasin was situated - a quirky addition no doubt.The biggest negative I found with this room was the amount of road noise throughout the night. The stretch of road that borders the hotel seems to be one that motorcyclists love to test the power of their toy at 3am. I would suggest the hotel invest in soundproofing the windows better, although that suggestion is probably far-fetched. If you stay here, perhaps request a room facing the building next door. You might get a worse view but at least you will sleep well.If you find yourself stuck in this town with no choice, come here. But if you have even the slightest opportunity to get to Hat Yai, take that option instead.
