We travelled as a couple in the beginning of July and had a fantastic time at this homestay.When we first planned our holidays in Indonesia, and in Lombok, we were not really thinking of visiting the innerland of the island in order to prioritize other parts of Indonesia, but we are so glad we changed our minds and decided to book a 3 nights stay at Kambang Kunning Cottages, near Tetebatu.Our hosts were very welcoming and very easy going. Especially Izy, who spoke very well english and was very attentive to everyone's needs.The homestay is located in a pretty and small village and the surroundings are beautiful.It is run by a lovely and quite large family. We got to know pretty much all the family members and they are all very friendly and welcoming.There are also a few cats, and some chickens wandering around the property, and a Mosque quiet close by, which immerses you in a very local atmosphere and adds up to the local experience.The homestay has several rooms and a common dining area where you are able to chat with other fellow travellers or the owners and enjoy a a very tasty meal.Our room was quite small and basic. The mosquito net on the bed had some holes and the WiFi didn't work well during our stay but since it was a 3 days stay, these little things did not bother us.Also, just like many other places in Indonesia, there is no hot water in the shower. But that is not a problem since the temperature is quite warm and mild all year round.Breakfast is included in the price of the accomodation, coffee and tea are free throughout the day, and you can also refill your bottle of water for free. Seriously, the food was so delicious and reasonably priced that we had there all of our meals. And portions were great too!They also offer different activities at a great price.We booked a soft trekking to see the rice fields, 2 waterfalls and the Black Monkey Forest. And we also booked their cooking class which they customised a bit for us since we are a vegan couple.We had a fab time during both activities.All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this fabulous place to anyone who is looking to go a bit off the beaten track of Lombok and explore the innerland while experiencing authenticity and meeting very welcoming people.A big Terimah Kasi to all the Kembang Kuning Cottages family for a wonderful experience in your village and we hope to seeing you again sometime in the future!Sampai Jumpa!Marta and Bruno

I stayed at this amazing Homestay for about a week. The host makes you feel so welcomed and at home. There's a few different styles of rooms, all simple but comfortable, clean and safe. I stayed in the garden view bungalow...I loved it, really nice to wake up to that every morning. It's all set on a plot of land with the rest of the family of the host, uncles, brothers, mom and some kids, which I didn't mind at all. One of the reasons why I stay at homestays over a guesthouse or hotel is because I want to see and experience the local life ..The Day to day and learn about the culture around me. But you still have your privacy, no one feels intrusive. There's also free range chickens and roosters running around, but they weren't noisy and didn't wake me up in the morning, but there is the Called to Prayer, which again I didn't mind; cause I've stayed in Muslim areas before, so didn't bother me at all, but maybe something you want to be aware of. There's also super cute kittens, and some ducks around. The food served there was absolutely delicious and priced well. Tea and coffee is free and served all day, just ask and there's also free breakfast...a choice between eggs and toast or banana pancake. You can also rent a scooter from them, which you will need, cause even though the neighborhood is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful to walk around, there's not much to do...A few small shops that's it, so if you want to see any waterfalls, monkey Forest, big rice fields or anything else your going to need a bike...There's a few really nice waterfalls about a 10-12min drive away, there's cheap to enter but really really stunning ..One waterfall I went to, I had the place all to my self, cause it's still not well known to tourist yet. Theres no hot showers, but there not ice cold either and again for me it was fine, cause it can get warm outside. Plus cold showers are pretty common on Lombok. There's plenty of tour packages you can choose from with a guide. I definitely recommend this place, again simple but priced right, lovely stay, I was sad to go, such good company... Amazing host, she made me fell right at home and was willing to help me or any of the other guests out with whatever they needed. I felt safe and secure, well taken care of, which is important as a solo female traveler... I Highly recommend. ☺️❤️

My stay at Kembang Kuning Cottages in Tetebatu was truly enchanting. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by the warm hospitality of the lovely family who runs the homestay, making me feel right at home.The cottage I stayed in was rustic, yet charming, clean and comfortable. The room came with a private bathroom, providing all the essentials for a pleasant stay. There is not hot water, but that is not too uncommon in the countryside here.One of the most memorable aspects of my stay was the delicious homemade meals prepared by the family. Every dish was crafted with love and fresh local ingredients, offering an authentic taste of Lombok’s culinary heritage. The banana pancakes for breakfast were great and so were the spring rolls!Kembang Kuning Cottages offers incredible value for the price. The rates are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the accommodations and the exceptional service. It’s the ideal place for travelers who are looking to experience the genuine warmth and culture of Lombok without spending a fortune.The family also arranged several fantastic activities and I choose to make coconut oil and roast coffee. It was a fascinating and hands-on experience that allowed me to learn about local traditions and crafts. The family’s guidance and patience made it all the more enjoyable.If you are looking for an authentic experience in Lombok, I promise you won’t be disappointed staying here. Fellow travelers should however set the right expectations before going. This is a homestay in a Muslim, rural village. There will be prayer calls throughout the day/night, roosters/chickens running around the yard and no 5 star hotel facilities. If this will bother you, I suggest you find another accommodation.Overall, my stay at Kembang Kuning Cottages was a delightful escape. The beautiful setting, the wonderful family, and the excellent value make it a hidden gem in Tetebatu. I left with fond memories and a strong desire to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and heartwarming experience in Lombok!
