Our recent stay at Alamayah was honestly a dream. The resort is small, only 6 rooms so you are never surrounded by more than a few other guests and feels more like a private villa. The design of the common area and rooms is just beautiful and surrounded by immaculate gardens. It is right on the beach so its easy to go for a surf etc.We payed for the full board including all meals which is recommended as the food is AMAZING.The staff are all local people who seem genuinely happy to work there and are able to be themselves and not over managed. Everyone was really professional and we had the warmest welcome and goodbye of anywhere I have ever stayed at.All the experiences felt genuine & not touristy, we did village tour of a local village, horse riding with local guide, surfing lessons, snorkelling and waterfall visit.Sumba is an untouched and special place. If you are happy to appreciate and respect the fact that it is undeveloped and natural with the local culture intact you will love it.I think compared to other luxury resorts in the area I would go back to Alamayah for the boutique feel and happy relaxed staff.

My partner and I just came back from our beautiful stay at Alamayah and WOW! As soon as you arrive, you transcend into a beautiful oasis. The people are so kind, the service is exceptional and the rooms are even more amazing. We stayed in the Tahik room and it was incredible! Walking up to the beautiful ocean and palm trees was magic ✨ I couldn’t recommend this room more!Not only is it such a beautiful place, the owners Dan and Jessica have really gone the extra mile to give back to the island and the local people. Their efforts to employ and upskill the locals is truly incredible.We wished we could have stayed longer but we will be back 🤍

Paradise! Absolutely stunning villa in a beautiful part of Sumba. 10/10 and way beyond our expectations. Everything was beyond perfect…the rooms, bar, dining, pool. So beautifully decorated with manicured gardens and to top it off two gorgeous horses grazing on the lawns! Huge shout out to all the amazing staff Novri, Renti, Gloria, Rahel, Aditya, Ana and Tina. Sadly we only got to stay for two nights.We were so sad to leave but we will be back! Definitely a highlight of our trip to Sumba. Massive thanks to Dan and Jess for sharing their beautiful creation with us!Just back after our second trip to Sumba. We staying at Alamayah for 5 nights. We celebrated my sons 30th birthday with 30 people at a fabulous bbq and were entertained by the talented Alamayah staff and local Sumbanese dancers. It was yet another an unforgettable experience. If in Sumba you must stay at Alamayah!

Amazing, premium but for resonable price, place with a lot of attractions like: surfing, jet ski, horse riding, exploring waterfalls etc. But the best thing is: no turists at all. All the water, ocean, waterfalls are yours! Be selfish. Take all of them for yourself and your family 😈

My girlfriend and I came to Sumba for our first time in June and it was both of our favorite trip we’ve ever been on.Alamayah was great in every way from the location, the service, the food, couldn’t have been a better stay.The staff was amazing and we loved the all inclusive option so everything was included (food, tours, bike rentals etc).We are planning a trip back in a couple months and we would love to stay at Alamayah again

From pickup to the daily activities up to the intimate BBQ dinner that was setup on our last night, we definitely felt all the attention and hospitality from the whole team. Special mention to Gloria, Hilda, Rosinta, Gunter, Vian & chefs who made sure our kids were having the best time and meals. We hope to go back again. We couldn’t recommend Alamayah highly enough! This hotel is absolutely stunning and the rooms, staff and location are all incredible.The staff are super friendly and so welcoming, making it very easy to pack the holiday full of activities around Sumba. The location was also a highlight, across the road from the beach and within a short drive from endless activities.The food was delicious with so many amazing meals, catering for everyone.We loved our stay and can’t wait to be back!

Alamayah - Just the most incredible place I have ever stayed! Each and every member of the staff were so kind, knowledgeable and conscientious - they collaboratively worked so hard to ensure we had a beautiful stay. The hotel is designed with so much thought from an environmental perspective as well as an architectural visual design. The ocean suite is just a dream! The food couldn’t be faulted just each dish was so beautifully made. The excursions such as the horse riding and beaches are so special and the guides are brilliant in taking you around showing you the magic of the island. The owners Dan & Jess and the team that built Alamayah should be commended so much for what they have brought to Sumba.

Had a fantastic 5 night stay here. Rooms are spacious and the hotel is beautifully decorated and maintained. Music could be heard a bit from my room (Mahi Suite) but was never really loud and ended by 9pm.Bathroom products are great including the sunscreen and non chemical anti mosquito spray and shower gel. Also really enjoyed the hammam and ice bath.Team is kind, attentive, and responsive. They did everything to make my stay a breeze including asking the neighbor to refrain from blasting his music.Food was very good especially considering how remote the place is. There are many western and Indonesian food options on the menu. To note: if you’re not a big eater or traveling solo it’s better to pay a la carte than take the half board. The former option wasn’t clear when I booked so the team accommodated accordingly.The beach out front is grey sand and isn’t very nice but there are some beautiful pristine swimming beaches a short ride away. The local village tour was authentic and worth a detour.Overall highly recommend.
