We stayed here for four nights, it was absolutely worth it. The Hotel is situated within the hills overlooking the Beach, spectacular view. Very tidy and clean. It is a calm, rather private location and perfect for unwinding and relaxing. Staff is very attentive and friendly, a special thanks to Ernesta and her team. Would come back anytime.

Just came back from a 4 night stay at Umarato. The positives: The view was stunning and the room was spacious. a lot of privacy. there was a nice list of activities, both paid and free, like archery and horse riding. there was also modern tvs with netflix etc. Ernesta, the hotel manager, was very thoughtful and proactive, always making sure we were taken care of. we went for the SouthWest Sumba tour at 1.75 jt. despite that, we had to pay additional entrance fees at around 50k for each attraction. the sites however were beautiful and our guide Uni was very knowledgeable. The things that could be improved: despite paying a rather high amount for the rooms, lunch and dinner was not included and food there is rather ridiculously priced. nasi goreng was 150k. a cup of espresso is 50k. While i understand that supply is harder to get due to the distance from a city, the establishment should aim to balance these costs because 150k nasi goreng is honestly a lot. also for breakfast, there were no drinks included which felt weird because nearly every other hotel in indonesia we stayed at included at least one juice or coffee/tea. also, i believe outsiders can eat at umarato's restaurant but they pay the same price as in-house guests which doesn't feel right. Airport transfer fees was 1jt.

Umarato was a dream. The villa is beyond beautiful and comfortable, the principal rooms (where we stayed) were literally heaven on earth. Imagine waking up in the most soft Balinese bed and the first thing you see in the morning is the infinite pool and the amazing landscape views. Also, special mention to Umarato’a people, the real treasure of this place. Ernesta and her team took care of every detail so we could enjoy the experience to its fullest. In addition, by staying in this villa you would be contributing to the education of the children from this area, since Umarato holds itself a free school for children with no resources. Finally, our tour guide, Rano, organized for us two days full of excursions and activities so we could get to know better Sumba and its culture.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying here. The attention to detail of the owner and staff is incredible - arranging an amazing movie night under the stars, and also setting up the telescope for stargazing etc. The food was great too.The view and the infinity pool is heavenly and the rooms are beautifully designed. You’ll be spoilt for choice on places to watch the sunrise. What is most amazing and unique is to hear about the back story of the villa and how the owner designed and built it with his family literally from the ground up with the vision to help fund a learning centre just around the corner for the community. They were kind enough to arrange a visit to the learning centre and it was an incredible experience for my family to interact with the children.Thank you for an unforgettable stay in your villa.
