Very friendly staff and funny guides. Very tasty food at any time. A 2 day jungle tour was very adventurous and we had a great time.

We stayed here and it was amazing. The people there were very friendly, taking care of us the whole time 😊. Also, the food at the restaurant was delicious, very homemade. There’s a swimming area and chill spots within the lodging. We did the one-night jungle trekking, and it’s 100% recommended. The guides are also there, helping you and telling you what you need. The trekking is intense but totally worth it. Additionally, you feel very relaxed because they teach you everything; the guides clearly enjoy what they do, and it shows. They stop at places to see orangutans, birds, and other wildlife. You feel carefree because they have everything well under control.

Horrible experience. We booked a room through Agoda, and the reservation was confirmed. We indicated that we would check in between 9 and 10 pm when reserving. We then tried to contact them multiple times (email, whatsapp, calling, and through agoda) just to make sure and confirm everything. They never answered. When we got there at 9:30 pm, no one was at the hotel, and they never appeared even though we knocked and rang the bell multiple times. We were left stranded under heavy rain, and everything was closed at that time!We were informed by our trekking company that this was because we did not book a trek with them, and that they have done this multiple times before. This is UNACCEPTABLE. If this is your policy, just let people know and we will book someplace else!!!

Careful… only book if you plan on taking a tour with them. They messaged me the day before arrival asking if we need help booking transport/tours. When I told them we had our tour booked (with a company they’re not affiliated with) they asked us to cancel… the day before arrival. Couldn’t risk keeping the reservation because we arrived at night. Not welcoming, poor business practice, and put us in a bad spot to find another accommodation.

We booked everything with them, trekking included and it went really well. They also organized transfers to the airport for us. The staff was very nice. Very professional trekking guides. We highly recommend. With a small remark which also applies to other establishments in bukit lawang: book all activities with the same supplier. They all offer accommodation, food and activities, but their real source of income is the activities. So taking the accommodation on one side of the street and the activities opposite...it can be a bad experience.

Arrived at 9 p.m. and unceremoniously kicked out at 11 p.m. The worst establishment I have ever experienced so far!Arriving at 9 p.m. at the establishment where we booked to spend 2 nights several days before, we settled into the rooms - basic, a mattress on the floor and a mosquito net, the common bathroom and toilets are to be shared with everyone. 'floor. The owner then questions us about the reasons for our presence here. We answer honestly because, having been traveling in Indonesia and Asia for several months, we have never encountered the slightest difficulty with the locals. We are here to do the trek in the jungle and we booked a month before with another company (the only one with a complete and explicit website on its proposals for ethical treks that respect wildlife), not knowing that in Bukit Lawang all accommodation offers treks. The owners then became extremely unpleasant, aggressive and rude to us again and literally kicked us out because we were doing the trek with a competing company. You need to know if by booking on booking you are reserving accommodation or a package of services, knowing that obviously rain forest does not specify at any time on booking that the condition for staying with their guest is to do the trek with them! We paid a high price and suffered the jealousy of Rain Forest towards its competitors even though it is not up to the hosts to bear this. There is no justification for being treated like this. At 11 p.m. we found ourselves on the street, most of the accommodation in the village was full (post-Ramadan holiday period for locals and the presence of many tourists) and we had to urgently find a fallback solution and go through the service booking customer to get fees waived! This is unacceptable! To flee!

Definitely the worst accommodation experience in Indonesia!1h30 after our arrival in the evening and after having dinner at their house, the owners literally threw us out at 10:30pm because we had booked a trek with another company than theirs. However, nothing mentioned on the booking platform that they also offered it and that it was the condition for staying with them. The owners were extremely aggressive, rude and almost insulting. Whatever you say, they don't listen to you! In a period of high tourist density linked to local holidays, they had no qualms about throwing us out at a very late hour, knowing full well that the majority of establishments were full. The cancellation was also complicated, since no communication is possible with these people and we had to go through Booking customer service to resolve this situation. We subsequently met many other travelers who had suffered the same ordeals in this establishment. We therefore cannot recommend this place... unless you book the trek with them 🤷‍♀️

The place I was looking for in Bukit lawangFamily hostel, quiet, away from the center, and which offers excursions in the national park with local guides, the most important thing for me here. Thank you so much
