We stayed at this lovely spot aftera few days trekking in the jungleIt's a short walk across the river toget there, but worth every step. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with nice big bathrooms, comfy beds, good fans and mosquito nets. The restaurant and groundsoverlook the river and jungle. Wespent lots of happy time sippingcoffee and watching the gibons inthe trees across the river. The hotel is run by Nora, a wildlife vet and primatologist, who is involved in anumber of conservation efforts all around Sumatra. They also have a very friendly and competent guide to show you around the area. We really loved our time there.

Really like this inn!The place is quiet, far from the crowds. Very suitable for those who want to find peace and quiet. Moreover, the front view is directly onto the river and dense forest!Yesterday, when I woke up early in the morning, there was the sound of monkeys coming from across the river, like they were calling.The bathroom is spacious, there is a shower, sitting toilet and sink.There is a front terrace to sit on bamboo chairs and tables while enjoying the river and forest views.The room is aesthetic, has a fan, has a mosquito net, a wardrobe and a round table for placing things.For breakfast, lunch or dinner there is a restaurant in the accommodation area.For those who want to tour around the forest to see various animals and fauna, you can immediately ask the staff here, then they will be directed to an experienced guide.Overall very satisfied staying here.Thanks!

We did 2 nights, then a 3 day 2 night trek and everything went very well. The guesthouse rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. From the terrace we can already see our first monkeys in the trees opposite. For the trek, the nights were spent in a camp, by the river, where we had a tent sheltered under a shelter, perfect in case of rain.The guides were awesome, we got to see black and yellow gibbons, macaques and an orangutan. I 100% recommend this authentic and respectful experience of the environment and animals. It’s a real treasure hunt in the middle of the jungle to be able to observe them and that’s exactly what we were looking for. Thank you for everything.

We did a 3-day trek in the jungle to see the Oran-utang 🦧! A unique experience ! The guides are great and caring ❤️We were alone with our two guides Derta and Keto 🫶An experience to do 👌

The owner Samuel is very friendly and accomodating. We arrived one day earlier because we got our booking wrong and he had 2 rooms available for us, he organized a night trek and a day trek as well. It was amazing!!! We got to see black gibbons and macaques. Most of all, Batu Katak is very wild and near the jungle, a really nice and peaceful place to stay. Everything was great. He even let us use our room until 5pm the next day for us to shower after our trek. I highly recommend.

Vacation with family.The rooms are in a good category with the condition of the location, the view of the beautiful Batu Katak karst forest with various leaves and trees, the staff is also very friendly and very responsive.For my holiday with my family, Yemen is enough.Unfortunately when we visited, the river water was a little unfriendly due to a lot of rain..Thank you for the service of manager Same and all restaurant staff. 🙏🙏

The experience at Batu Katak Guesthouse has been very good. The rooms are simple but have the requirements to be good. In front of the restaurant you can see and hear Gibbons and other monkeys.They organized a 3-day visit to the jungle for us where we could live an incredible and completely wild experience, seeing animals and flora (orangutans and one of the largest existing flowers). The guides are great and they organized the camps for us to have dinner and sleep each night.It is also a solidarity project and the benefits remain in this small and welcoming community, where they prepare gardens for families.If what you are looking for is wild nature, totally recommended.

Amazing guesthouse perfectly located, in front of the river and the jungle, you can even hear and see some gibbons from the terraceThe atmosphere is very peacefulOur room was quite big, with western bucket toilet and cold shower, and a fan. It’s confortable enough for your stay hereThe guesthouse offers a restaurant service, I highly recommend it, the dishes are delicious!People are very welcoming and respectful, and also very friendly if you want to have a talk, or some helpMoreover Samuel, the manager, can help you before and during your stay for everything : how to come, plan your jungle trek or others activities. Beautifully located, right next to a small river and the karst forest. I stayed there three nights for some jungle treks. As mentioned in another review, the rooms are, of course, basic. But the good thing is, you are extremely close to the real wilderness and jungle. A small breakfast is included, and they can provide lunch and dinner.Can really recommend staying there, because I had a good time. Just shoot them a message via WhatsApp for enquiries and booking.

Beautiful place about 30 mins from Bukit Lawang right on the river. Saw orang utans from the restaurant in the forest on the other side of the river. Nice community project bringing people from Batu Katak to work.Note: this clearly is a place in the jungle, no airco, sink in the bathroom, etc. but that shouldn't stop you from visiting :)

A peaceful and calm paradise! Very friendly staff and fun to hang out here in the evenings. Good food and an amazing view! Had a great trip into the jungle from here.

Wonderful - this place is just heaven and everything I wanted - to come to a quiet place and sit in the rainforest. The guesthouse is positioned the best in Batu Katak on a bend in the river, with a wall of rainforest opposite. Manager Samuel, staff and all the guides are so friendly and welcoming - we had some great evenings just chatting with everyone in the restaurant when everyone had finished work and guests were back for the evening. A great vibe. My 1 day trek was great and with the expert guides you get 3 x the experience. I also recommend the jungle trekking shoes you can get - I didn't take this good advice the first time. I extended my stay from 3 days to 5 and I know I will be back! There are many repeat guests so that speaks for itself. The rooms are good - very clean, spacious, comfortable bed. The bathroom has everything you need, but I only used it the first night because it was amazing swimming in the beautiful fresh river several times a day! Oh!.. and a delicious full breakfast is included with your accommodation 🙂, bonus. Very well priced. Thankyou Samuel and team.... Sampai jumpa lagi. The other guesthouses, Orchid Hotel and Jungle River also have very nice accommodation and locations. Although I didn't stay at these, I dropped in to say hello and have a drink. You can't go wrong in Batu Katak.
