If you are looking for a luxurious 4 or 5 star hotel experience and buffet breakfast with all the trimmings but without a real welcome feeling, do not book this accommodation.BUTIf you want to stay in a budget bungalow in a very family environment where the family also lives, then I can absolutely recommend this small hotel (bungalows). Owner Jhonny is very concerned with the well-being of his guests and the rest of the people you see there are also very friendly and helpful. The small garden is also very well maintained so you will not see any plastic lying around.Everything you ask Jhonny is arranged and you can assume that it is ok, such as a very good guide and helper (Rasta and Pandy) for the jungle trekking. He also responds very quickly if you send him a message. The points for improvement are perhaps to empty the bin in the bungalow every 2 days (also toilet paper in it) and then also provide a clean towel. I am sure that if you ask this it will happen immediately but I think that as a guest you should not have to ask this.Breakfast is simple, just ask for something simple like banana pancake with chocolate sauce but do not expect an extensive buffet, that is not possible for the price you pay for the night. Wifi is very good. Also important: you are on the quiet side of the river where no motorized traffic can come but still only a 5 minute walk from the many restaurants on the other side (via the bridge). What is incorrect in the room description on Booking.com is that there would be a minibar in the room but you can get cold drinks there. This place is an absolute must for the budget traveler.

Great Guesthouse, Johnny the owner is super welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are clean, the garden beautiful, right next to the river for swimming. We eat well there. I recommend, great!

Garden is nice, rooms are okay but the owner got a agressive attitude. He try to force us to book the trek with him and offended other organisations. On the second day we did not get the breakfast we paid for one day earlier. On request the owner just replied he was still sleeping. Would not go there again

My partner and I went a few days ago. Great experience at Lucky bamboo. Jonny and Khela's treatment was magnificent. They are very good people. The trekking in the jungle was very well organized, we saw many orangutans. We repeated 100%👌

Attention!!! Take this hotel only if you do a trek with them.In my case, I received repeated insulting messages when I informed that we had already booked a trek with another company. I can understand that he gives priority to customers but to be insulted... Fortunately, we found another hotel and the Indonesians are adorable except for some...

To flee!!!We booked a room at Lucky Bamboo to do a jungle trek the next day. We do not want to do the trek with him but with another company. When we arrived he refused us access to the room!!This gentleman is not nice by nature!! He's nice because he has something in mind and when things don't go his way he becomes aggressive and mean!

My partner and I had an awesome stay at Lucky Bamboo. We loved the family feel. Kela was super attentive to our needs and made the whole stay very relaxed. Although we only met him briefly it seems Johnny is also a 'Diamond Geezer'. I wish we had found lucky bamboo earlier during our stay in Indonesia as I could have happily been there for a few weeks. The wildlife is amazing, Kela took us on a 3 day 2 night jungle trek and we saw so much wildlife! If you go on a trek and are lucky enough to have Mujadi as your jungle chef you are in for a treat as he made some of the tastiest food we have had since coming to Indonesia. For a laid back stay in close to the jungle Lucky Bamboo is a great choice.Jungle trek, jungle trek in Bukit Lawang, see the monkeys see the birds, see orangutan.

Update:After writing the review, I received the message below from Jhonny, the owner:"If you complain too much, back to your country."Positive:The appearance of the site with the houses looks nice and maintained. It's a nice idea to have your own 'house' with a terrace. It was nice that there was a mosquito net.Negative:We chose this accommodation because of the good reviews, we had the impression that we could pay by credit card, breakfast was included and the images looked nice. We hoped to relax here for a few days.Relaxing was very difficult here. Cheeky macaques flew around your ears and came towards you. You had to keep an eye on your things all the time. Also there was a little girl crying, wailing, screaming loudly every 5 minutes all day long. Out of misery we decided to relax somewhere else during the day. Many other things were very disappointing. In the end we still had to pay for the accommodation in cash, the pillows smelled terribly and had mold (black dots) in them, the window could not be locked, so things were not safe, the toilet could not be flushed, which became very smelly, there was no sink, which made brushing teeth very inconvenient, the jet of the shower is clumsy, so you cannot rinse properly and the water stops regularly, so you cannot continue showering,Early in the morning you were woken up by a screaming/crying child and running macaques on the steel roof,Breakfast (which was included) consisted of 1 omelette or 1 fried egg on 2 slices of bread or a plain pancake. This meant nothing at all. There wasn't even a local breakfast,After checking out we discovered that they also charged us too much for the one time we had dinner here (very small portions) and the owner did not give us the change back for paying for the accommodation. We had to go after this ourselves...We really don't understand why this accommodation has so many good reviews. We don't recommend this place to anyone!
