Had a great experience! We stayed in the padi room. It was a clean and spacious room, had good air conditioning and a nice bed with mosquito net! We also had a beautiful view! When you are there you will get an insight into the lives of Kakau, Lily and the children. This is so nice to see! They were very hospitable. The guide Iwan also gave us excellent guidance during the two-day jungle trek. He told us all about different animal and plant species. Highly recommended!

We contacted Kakau last minute with the request for a stay and a three-day jungle trek. This was no problem and everything was arranged quickly and smoothly.The location was beautiful with nice views and a relaxed vibe. There was a wide range of delicious food and drinks. Our laundry was also taken care of.The trek focused on teaching about the jungle and its flora and fauna, instead of mindlessly chasing orangutans like some other organisations did. Nonetheless, our experienced guide knew exactly how to find the animals in nice and quiet areas, also by taking the time to take in the nature and its beauty.We enjoyed the stay and the trek very much and would definitely recommend this organisation!

I stayed at the Sumatran Expedition Lodge for three nights. I had a fantastic stay. Breakfast and all other desired meals are freshly prepared and taste very, very good (Mie Goreng was the best for me). If necessary or wanted, the owners and the service will organize everything for you (pick-up from Medan, local tours and of course the jungle treks). Definitely book the jungle tours through the accommodation, their guides are incredibly good and friendly!I can only say thank you for the lovely stay, the exchange and the experience!

Everything was perfect - the communication with the hosts, the transport, jungle trekking with Iman and Jabat 😊 Also the food was amazing - very delicious. We came for the jungle trekking but the people there were the real treasures we have found. :)Best wishesLisa and Viktor

Great accommodation and jungle trek tours!The Homestay is right next to the fields and very peaceful. They have the best staff, so friendly and will always help you out, and just make you feel at home!The jungle trek was perfect. You can choose from a variety of lengths of the trek and will get very knowledgeable guides who help to spot so much wildlife and explain pretty much everything there is to know and also could answer all of the questions we had. They keep you safe and sound during the trek with some of the best food and a lot of fruits. We had the chance to see gibbons, urangutans, hornbills, funky monkey (can’t remember their real names) and a lot of different flora and fauna. And with all the informations we got from Wally and Oman it was just amazing.It’s a very welcoming experience and a big thank you to all the staff, you’re the kindest people :)

The rooms are great and with an amazing view. Just be aware that the location is a bit outside the centre. The family that runs it is super kind and welcoming. We could get food, trips and advise what to do. We did a 2-day jungle trekking with them and that was awesome! Also the cooking class was lots of fun.Would recommend to stay here!

We spent some days here to go jungle trekking. Oman, our guide, was really awesome and showed us all animals in the jungle. The lodge itself is very cute and feels like a family since only a few rooms exist. The lodge is bedded within rice fields, which makes the experience even more memorable, to enjoy in nature. We would gladly stay here again!

A small guesthouse with a lot of heart and love for the guests. The location is very well located and the owners are very well connected to organize various excursions and activities. You feel like you're part of the family right away. We cooked together as a family, which was a lot of fun and also very tasty. We would book there again at any time!

It was a beautiful stay, there is always someone that helps you with all your needs. You dont have to worry about anything and the people are very nice and helpful.I can absolutely recommend this beatiful lodge.
