Loved our stay at Kupu Kupu so much we kept extending. Probably would still be there if they weren't fully booked.Risky is the friendliest guy ever - always greets you with a smile and is happy to chat.The location is great. Right on the river, overlooking the national park. We spent many days looking for wildlife from our balcony.Only 10 minutes walk along the river from the start of the town.Will definitely come back. Hopefully soon.

The guesthouse is located somewhat outside of the village. Which at first seemed a bit of a hassle going to the village, but in turn you get amazing views of the jungle and an amazing staff and amenities. The guesthouse has a panoramic view of the jungle, and because of the distance to the village we managed to see all kinds of wildlife.The guesthouse has a communal dining concept, where they make sure there is something for everyone (also providing vegan or vegetarian options). The food was amazing and the atmosphere invites social contact with others. We got to know a lot of people. The staff itself are really friendly and helpful.The guesthouse arranges tours and activities. We booked a two day jungle track. In contrary to other tour agencies, with Kupu Kupu you get private tours, which was exactly what we wanted. This way we were able to set our own pace. The guys from the tour - Putra and Roy - were amazing. We had lots of laughs and sang our way through the track. Aside from all the fun, we also managed to see a wide arrange of wildlife, including many Orangutans.The experience we had here was truly exceptional and we would 100% recommend anyone going here.

This place is located about 30 minutes from BUKIT Lawang town centre on foot but they have people to help you with the luggage and that.|It's large rooms with fans, outside showers are lovely for a couple of nights. There's not much to do except chill out. Dinner is taken en famille with everyone at big tables. It's special

Excellent place to stay a couple of days to enjoy the jungle, bathe in the river and eat fantastic food.
Staff is incredibly kind and will tend to your every need while you're there (transport, itenaries, food, etc).

The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, which made our holiday even more special. Each meal was carefully prepared from local ingredients, which made the dishes not only tasty, but also healthy. We will especially remember the aromatic jackfruit curry that surprised our palates 🍛🍍Jungle TrekkingThe most exciting part of our trip was the jungle trek, which was brilliantly organized by the hosts. Walking through the dense forest, we had the opportunity to see orangutans in their natural habitat - it was an unforgettable adventure! The hotel Kupu Kupu Garden is located 30 minutes walking from where the car drops you off. It's located near the jungle and there's a lot of peace and quiet to enjoy.The rooms are nice and spacious, they might not have AC or a kettle but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. The shower and toilet of our room where in the open air, the best shower I have had in any hotel.Risky and Arif are great hosts. Arif picks you up from the village. And Risky cooked us the most amazing local food. Please keep it up guys.They also booked us a jungle trekking with Wanda and Juli, Wanda was incredible knowlagable and Juli was helping to spot more animals by taking detours. We saw a lot of animals and had the best jungle trekking so far. We would definitely visit Kupu Kupu Garden again if we are nearby.

A real life paradise! Beautiful and spacious rooms with amazing views of the forest and the river! The hotel is 10mins walk from the main village, completely inside the nature.The dinner we had was super tasty and very abundant!We booked a 1N2D trek with the hotel which was very well organised and with an amazing guide. We had a really good time and we 100% recommend it!

10/10 would recommend. The House Looks great, Food is good, rooms are very spacious and clean. And the staff is amazing. We felt so comfortable and taken care of. Would come again any time. Arif is so helpful. We did the Tour and had an amazing time with wanda. Saw so many animals and he answered all our questions.

A place in nature, how a place should be. Nothing else than just a really beautiful, with lovely people and super tasty authentic Indonesian food, made with fresh vegetables.Ow and if you are lucky you will be able to see Orangutans 🦧 just around the corner.

We had an unforgettable stay at Kupu Kupu Garden Guesthouse. This is the place you never want to leave. Everything was just perfect.The quiet location right at the riverside - about 30 minutes walk along the river from the town centre - is very beautiful and peaceful.The guesthouse buildings (only 5 rooms) are surrounded by a lush tropical garden, full of colorful flowers (and of course butterflies). The sounds of birds and the flowing of the river complete the paradise feeling.The stylish rooms are spacious and come with a private bathroom and a lovely balcony overlooking the river towards the majestic jungle at the other side; it’s not uncommon to spot monkeys or hornbills while laying in your hammock.In the nice open restaurant you can have great breakfasts and every evening a delicious ‘family style’ dinner is served at the big wooden tables. The food is delicious and always freshly prepared; during the four days we stayed there was never the same dish.Last but not least, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They are not only professionals when it comes to organizing jungle trekking or rafting, but also can help you arrange excursions or transport to your next destination. But above all, they are genuinely passionate about nature and treat 'their' jungle with the utmost respect.We went on a 1-day jungle trekking with Arif and Yuli and this was a highlight of our stay. We spotted seven orangutans, but also saw Thomas' leaf monkeys, white gibbons, macaques, turtles and two hornbills. The walk was beautiful, mostly easy, but sometimes with steep descents or climbs. In the jungle we were treated to fresh fruit and a delicious nasi goreng, all brought for us by the boys in their daypack. At the end of the trekking we returned to Bukit Lawang by rafting, which was a great experience too.Thanks Risky, Arif, Mery and Juli for hosting us, we had a fantastic time with you all.

Best Guesthouse possible! Nestled in the rainforest just 10 minutes away from the village. Offers a unique experience in the jungle with all the amenities (electricity, internet, hot shower) including an unspoiled view at the river and Jungle! Our hosts were so nice and helpful! And the food was outstanding! Thank you very much for an unforgettable jungle vacation including a perfect organised jungle trek

One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. About 20 mins out of main Bukit Lawang. The staff is super sweet and nice. It's not like a hotel, it's like coming home to your family. Thank you Sue, Risky, Arif and Mary for making my stay such a beautiful experience. I will definitely come back.
