It is a very valuable experience to be able to stay at a guest house that feels like you are at home, the view is good, the accommodation is good and the service provided by mam feels like you are with your own mother, there is not the slightest bad experience while staying at this inn, the building is standing in a classic style and the polish of Minang culture but does not leave the impression of luxury and elegance and the atmosphere of a cool place combined with comfortable accommodation combined between luxury and classic makes it comfortable and comfortable to stay. Plus it is close to all the tourist attractions in Bukittinggi.

We loved our stay here. Mam is the best person we met in Indonesia, sheβs so lovely & kind and wanted to share everything with us, the food and her culture. Mam grows many ingredients in her garden that we sampled during our time there, from rosella tea to homemade yoghurt. And chocolate!! She speaks excellent english and also an excellent teacher which was really helpful for us to learn more Bahasa.We met some of her students and they were so lovely, and took us on a tour of Bukittinggi one day, and also hung out with us at her place. We had so many wonderful experiences because of staying here.This place is special, if you want a genuine and authentic experience, I can recommend it.

The strong point of this establishment is the welcome given by Muslidar, very pleasant and sociable. The room is also very quiet. We arrived at 2am and were welcomed. There is also hot water (except the first day we didn't have any).Unfortunately, this place is abandoned and not at all maintained, which means I have to leave only one star. Everything in the garden is dirty and broken. The floor is never cleaned, there is dirt everywhere. But the most disturbing thing is the cleanliness of the rooms. The sheets are full of stains, the floor is dirty and sticky, dust is everywhere, everything is shabby, it doesn't smell clean. We only had a small trickle of water in the bathroom faucet (see photo) which made the faucet impossible to use. We stayed 5 nights, then we slept elsewhere for 1 night and came back here for our last night, and the room hadn't even been cleaned when we returned, only the sheets (still dirty) had been changed. I had to sweep the room myself!!! The price is also too high on the reservation sites (350,000 IDR instead of 250,000 on site). Muslidar was not honest with us regarding the last night we booked directly with her trying to charge us the Agoda price.We have been in Asia for a year and a half and are used to basic and cheap rooms but this is by far the dirtiest room we have had. A good welcome is not everything, cleanliness remains an essential thing that we did not have here, which is a shame.

Nice to be able to stop by here. It's true what the previous reviewer said, the caretaker is very friendly. The room is also quite spacious and clean, coincidentally last week I ordered a family room. Parking the car is also not difficult. The location is quite strategic. Recommended for those looking for comfortable but not expensive accommodation in Bukittinggi π

I highly recommend Gabelo for foreign visitors. I stayed for 3 weeks in a peaceful, sunny, and airy room with an amazing view of both local mountains.Β β¦

Thirty years ago, my intention was to stay for a couple of days here, but six months later, I still hadn't left !The house and Pintu Kabun area , offers a quiet, peaceful retreat, and a unique opportunity for travellers to experience and learn about Indonesian life and Minangkabau culture .Muslidar, is a wonderfully kind, charismatic, and extraordinary lady, with a great life knowledge, and will make your stay unforgettable.I'm now, so proud to call her my Indonesian Mum, and true, life long friend.I have since revisited and look forward to returning 'home' there soon.Without doubt, the most fantastic travel experience of my life, by far ! β€
