Was meant to stay here for 5 nights but cut it short as there’s no wifi. The place is set away from the main Lakey Peak area and is on the hill side, not ocean side with a beautiful high view of the ocean. The garden is lush and it’s a lovely spot perched up on the hill. To get around you will need a scooter as things are not walking distance but be careful as the tracks to the hotels are dodgy. Stayed for 3 nights and actually got sick so I was at the hotel a lot. I would say it’s more of a 2-3 star, not 4 as rated. My review is a bit mixed, I think the place is beautiful but needs a bit of upkeep particularly the common areas, restaurant area was cluttered and dated. Just felt like it needed a Marie Kondo and a deep clean as it has a lot of potential. If the area overlooking the ocean was set up comfortably with some bar stools or dining tables, it could be a really nice space. However, there is not much of a vibe when I was there. There’s also a bit of construction going on so as I walked into the place I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place with all the building materials noticeable as you walk in.The rooms itself though were clean, comfortable bed with aircon and a fan, and a wardrobe, TV with dvds.. there is hot water and soap.. the shower though wasn’t the best as the water is heavily calcified and has clogged the shower head. Room was not cleaned during my stay, so just be mindful if you are expecting that, emptying of the bins daily would of been nice to prevent pests. There were some cockroaches and ants, also mosquitoes at night so ensure you bring repellent. It says there is wifi on the website, but there is not, I was pretty disappointed as I deliberately booked this place because I needed wifi. They offered their hotspot from their phone but that is only available if they are there and you need to be near them in the restaurant. Therefore no service in the rooms or pool area. The food- I didn’t eat there much. The food in a bit limited and pricey, much better value at any of the local restaurants.. the beverages and snacks on sale are also marked up. One thing I would suggest is that it would be really nice to have a hot and cold water dispenser for guests with a coffee/tea station so guests can just help themselves to that. Sometimes the small things go a long way. As this place is classified as a hotel I would of expected kettle with tea/coffee.Breakfast included is a choice of; eggs your way and toast, or porridge with fruit +tea or coffee. There’s also a very cute and friendly dog onsite, so please be mindful if you don’t like dogs.A couple things I wasn’t happy with:- I was woken at 12.30am so they could check the water system in my room.. I was fast asleep and actually recovering from a flu, so I really did not appreciate being woken up in the middle of my much needed rest. It could of waited till the next morning as I was not going to use the bathroom or water until then anyway.- there was burning of something, a small fire in front of my room, not sure why but with all my towels and cloths out they all ended up smelling like smoke. In conclusion, I think this place is nice and the owners are lovely, but the place just needs a bit if TLC, especially the restaurant area, and update the website with exactly what’s on offer or communicate with the guest if wifi isn’t available. Definitely a good place to stay for big groups but I would not recommend for solo travellers as it is very secluded.
