Sosui Losmen

Sosui inn, the rooms are nice and clean, the restaurant always serves delicious food, the location is strategic, directly facing the waves, we can immediately see surfers dancing on the waves

I hate giving bad reviews, but this review is necessary given the circumstances and my multiple visits to this restaurant. I'm not sure why this restaurant has such great reviews. I stayed in Sorake for almost two weeks and ate here several times and every time the food was not memorable and mediocre at best. This review is only about the quality of the food and directly comparing it to a similar restaurant in North Sumatra that was the same price level. I'll give two examples. I ordered a chicken burger at Sosui and was served a processed chicken patty from a bag (not real chicken grilled or fried) with egg on top, no vegetables and some weird tasting sauce and the bread was not even toasted. When I was in Samosir island before I arrived in Nias I ordered a chicken burger at a restaurant and it was excellent with real boneless chicken breaded and fried with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and fried egg on a toasted hamburger bun. On another occasion at Sosui I ordered the chicken-vegetable-noodle soup and was served a tiny bowl of soup with preservative laden instant noodles, hardly any chicken and poor quality/quantity vegetables. Once again, in Samosir island I had the same kind of soup and it was phenomenal. Not sure why the quality between these two restaurants in two different places in North Sumatra were drastically different in quality and quantity. I ate here multiple times because there are not many options in Sorake. The wait staff and service was friendly and great. This restaurant should step up their game, take pride in the food they put out and cook their food with love like the food I experienced on Samosir island. Hopefully the owners of this establishment read this review and take it constructively, gain awareness and make a positive change for the good of their restaurant.

Amazingly great

We didn’t stay here but ate here most days, the lemon juice was amazing and views of the surf! Also the staff were lovely and went out of their way with free water refills and helping us out

Fun place to hang out in Sorake while watching the sunset & people surfing

Good place to eat but you have to be patience about the food, it took some times to be prepared
