Ombak Luwung Beachfront Estate

Ombak Luwung is an exquisite and stately estate with beach access at the end of the expansive property. There are countless details on the property that tells a story of labor of love when this was designed, built and decorated. A few ‘hidden’ paths tucked away on the property where you can wander around and immerse yourself in this tropical garden estate. So many water features sprinkled around the estate bringing a sense of peace and relaxation. There is even a massage quarter with 2 tables set up in a serene pavilion with outdoor shower on the side.The owner reached out a few days before our arrival to offer local recommendations and ensure arrival details are settled. The staff onsite generally does a good job trying to meet our needs, but we requested the upstairs bedrooms to be set up with 2 twin beds instead of the king. When we arrived the staff told us that’s not possible even that was an option on the pre-order form we filled out.Now, the bad.There is a warung built right on the beach in front of the property. Ok, you still get half of a beach view, not as advertised but not the end of the world. The problem is, this isn’t just a warung(restaurant), it’s a beach club. There was a dance party the first night we arrived and they were pumping out music until 4am in the morning. The bass from the subwoofers pounded the endless beats into our heads for many nights. The staff tried talking to the warung many many times but to no avail. To make matters worse, there is also another club of some sort right next (north of) to the villa, they were also pumping out music with strong bass most nights until 2-3am.UNRELATED TO VILLA but impacted our stay: outside catering Chef Leo recommended by the villa. He was supposed to come scope out the grounds on Thursday to get ready for dinner on Saturday. No show up on Thursday. On day of the event, he was supposed to come at 5pm to set up for an 8pm dinner. By 5:30, didn’t see or hear from anyone. They finally showed up after 7pm and needed to rush to set up. What a scene it was for all the guests to see them scrambling with the tables, linens, plates and serving ware and cooking gears. By the time people started eating at around 8:30, the food was cold (not enough time to warm) and the fish was not cooked all the way. They had to throw the whole batch of fish back on griller and by the time they were ready, people were almost done with dinner so yes we had to toss out who knows how many pounds of snapper by end of the night. I don’t think the villa should recommend him to future guests.This is still a one of a kind property in Bali, unfortunately the relentless noise pollution made our stay and experience far less enjoyable than expected for property of this caliber.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our beautiful dream Bali wedding at this magnificent resort thanks to COVID.We would like to wish Canggu Bali Resort all the best for the future and hopefully one day we can come to Bali and celebrate an event at this beautiful resort. Wonderful

This is a beautiful villa in the wrong place. There is no need to re'write what a previous review said about the love and care that went into its construction. From the lovely bedrooms to the open air sitting area, the gardens and water features... it is delightful.However the evening and night noise is terrible. There is now a nightclub north of the villa, one just south and another under construction just up the road. The villa sits in the centre of a triangle of noise.The owner, who went out of her way to make this a memorable stay, disappointingly completely down played the noise both as we booked and while we were there. It's not her fault that this has happened but it's time for her to make it clear to prospective clients that this is a place for surfers who like to party late into the night. The days are fine, actually they are beautiful. But it's not for families or group of friends looking for a bali experience. Unless they like going to sleep feeling their bodies vibrate. Its true that some nights are worse than others but why take the risk.The service was great, the chef excellent and nothing was too hard for them to attend to. The pool however needed work. It's a long story, I've said enough.We won't be back.
