Bluestar in Kanchanaburi has become my favorite place to stay in Thailand. I’ve visited four times, and each time I’m reminded why I love it so much. Unlike the hustle and bustle of big cities like Bangkok or Pattaya, Kanchanaburi offers a tranquil escape, and Bluestar is perfectly nestled by the side of the beautiful Meklong River. The air quality here is excellent, and the environment is full of nature’s wonders.Waking up to the songs of various birds, surrounded by lush plants and colorful flowers, is a truly refreshing experience. Bluestar is surrounded by trees and greenery, creating a peaceful ambiance where you can unwind and connect with nature. It’s the perfect spot for nature lovers or anyone looking to escape the city. The price is very affordable, and it’s conveniently located near plenty of food shops. One of Kanchanaburi’s most famous landmarks, the River Kwai Bridge, is also easily reachable by walking. The only thing you need to bring is your love for nature — everything else is here! The staff here, including the owner, are exceptionally kind and caring. They go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Their hospitality truly makes you feel at home.I highly recommend Bluestar to anyone visiting Kanchanaburi. Whether you’re looking to relax by the river, enjoy birdwatching, or just unwind in a peaceful setting, this is the place to be. I’ve also attached some photos to give you a glimpse of this little paradise!

Very simple little bungalow close to the Kwai River bridge. You will find yourself right in the jungle with the river passing right by.

Good atmosphere, small, narrow entrance, a little difficult to find a place to park.

For 650 baht (a little over £14) a night it’s hard to complain. An incredible view of the River Kwai in the bungalow along with a nice balcony. Bed was comfortable and air con worked almost too well! Basic walk-in shower with hot water and close to lots of things, never had a problem getting a Grab taxi if I needed one.Keep in mind this is literally on the river banks, so you are right in the middle of the wildlife. While this is pretty incredible in a way the geckos and birds can be annoying and a bit unsettling if you’re not used to them. I had a very noisy Tokay gecko somewhere in the walls, but this is probably a universal issue for most Thai accommodation outside of Bangkok high-rises.

Beautifully designed, natural surroundings - great for bird watching. Lots of nice seating outside. Our cabin had new air conditioning that worked well. The owners and staff are very friendly, you get all the information and helpful tips in English. If you need something quick to eat, there is an on-site restaurant - also with a vegetarian menu (just cancel the fish sauce if you want). Thank you for the good time, it's a shame we had to move on.
